The First Half of the Grand Line, The Airspace Over Asuka Island.
Despite the uninhibited glare of the midday sun, a thin, eerie green mist hung strangely over the landscape, radiating a heavy, unnatural chill that seemed to suppress the light.
The massive black steel hull of the Eclipse sheared through the clouds, hovering steady and silent directly above the dense forest canopy of Asuka Island.
"The magnetic parameters and localized atmosphere here are remarkably disruptive."
Sabo stood anchored at the edge of the deck plating, his gaze tracking the green haze. He unrolled his Observation Haki with practiced efficiency, letting the sensory waves ripple outward through the lower air currents until his mind caught a volatile vibration rising from the heart of the territory—as if a prehistoric predator was slowly waking behind the trees.
Simultaneously, Ace, Enel, and the remaining vanguard mapped the entire island matrix through their own perceptions.
"The eastern settlement is sustaining an active engagement," Enel grunted, blue sparks crackling along his ears as his focus isolated the sounds of iron striking iron. "A detachment of uniformed Marines is methodically plundering civilians who lack the structural capacity to return fire."
"They belong to the Marine Dojo garrison stationed on this coordinate," Ace said, his hands resting inside the deep pockets of his trench coat. His memory easily categorized the details from the old records; the instructor commanding this outpost was a swordsman named Saga.
"The structural seals on the sword are slipping. The spiritual corruption radiating from the steel has already overridden the consciousness of the trainees." Ace turned his chin, his dark eyes locking onto the skeleton who was casually wiping down his instrument. "Brook. Your edge is waiting directly below our keel. Are your ribs aligned to receive it?"
"Yo-ho-ho-ho... my configuration has been primed since we cleared Reverse Mountain, Captain," Brook said, rising smoothly from his seat to rest his hand along the hilt of Soul Solid, its steel giving off a cold, pale blue luminescence.
Though his chassis was devoid of flesh, a bright underworld fire danced within his empty eye sockets, carrying the unadulterated focus of an apex swordsman. "The stench of that ancient resentment cuts straight through the wind. To an independent soul entity, this is structurally equivalent to a sumptuously laid table."
"Little Eclipse. Initiate descent," Ace ordered.
Boom!
The ventral thrusters discharged a controlled air brake, and the black dreadnought dropped through the mist like a descending demon, hovering over the perimeter of the besieged village.
The settlement had been reduced to a theater of total chaos.
Dozens of young swordsmen clad in white Marine kendo gear were brandishing their katanas with bloodshot eyes and distorted features. Eerie green veins pulsed across their sclera, indicating a total loss of cognitive autonomy. While they refrained from absolute slaughter, they were systematically tearing through the structures, brutally flattening any elder or hunter who attempted to steady the line.
"The Jewel! Yield the sacred jade that binds the altar matrix!"
A Marine trainee, his eyes burning with an intense green glare, pinned a young woman against a timber wall. She had long brown hair and wore the traditional white-and-red vestments of a shrine maiden. The trainee hoisted his blood-stained katana above her shoulder.
"For the sake of Instructor Saga! For the manifestation of the absolute baseline! Relinquish the box!"
"I will never hand the seal to a bandit! Your malice will break the foundation of this island!" Maya cried out, clutching a small embroidered cloth bag against her chest as she closed her eyes in surrender.
The microsecond before the iron could descend:
Click.
A sudden, absolute drop in temperature locked the courtyard.
The Marine swordsman froze mid-strike, his arms remaining raised in a completely unnatural display of suspended inertia. His wrists, the steel of his katana, and even the frantic green capillaries within his eyes were instantly encased in a thick, crystalline layer of pale blue frost.
"What is this current...?" Maya unsealed her eyes, staring in absolute disbelief at the pristine ice sculpture that had materialized before her chest.
"Yo-ho-ho-ho... marching beneath the mantle of Global Justice, yet executing the behavior of a common cutpurse. Even if your cognitive centers have been compromised by an unholy blade, that stance is remarkably unappealing."
Accompanied by a dry, rhythmic chuckle, Brook's slender frame stepped out of the fog, his boots moving across the broken stone with light, elegant steps. Directly behind his stride walked Ace, his dark red coat shifting against the wind, flanked by Sabo and Leona.
The physical presence of the Eclipse Pirates—carrying a dense, suffocating spiritual pressure—forced the corrupted trainees across the square to abort their plundering.
Turning their bloodshot eyes toward the strangers, the Marines let out a series of guttural, animalistic snarls. They abandoned their civilian targets, raising their weapons as they charged toward Brook's position like a pack of rabid hounds.
"Incorporate their tissue! consecrate the steel with their lifelines!"
"Captain, permit me to clear the yard," Leona murmured, her right fingers already sliding onto the grip of White Night.
"Negative," Ace said, his gaze remaining fixed on the center of the square. "This is an engagement calculated for souls. Brook—settle their nerves."
"As you command, Captain," Brook whispered, drawing Soul Solid horizontally across his frame as his skeletal knees dipped into a low fencing stance.
He pushed the spiritual resonance of the Revive-Revive Fruit to its absolute peak. A visible, freezing aura of pure Yomi frost slid along the meteorite black steel blade Jeno had recently balanced.
"Underworld Requiem: The Dance of the Cold Dark!"
Whoosh!
Brook's form dissolved from the flagstones. All that remained within the visual cortex was a fluid, untraceable blue afterimage moving through the crowd like a specter executing a ballroom progression, weaving through the charging Marines with impossible, elegant velocity.
The entire sequence consumed less than three seconds.
Brook rematerialized silently behind the formation, his skeletal thumb smoothly pressing the guard to slide the steel back into its cane scabbard.
Click.
The clean snap of the lock acted as the final note of the movement.
The microsecond the sound settled, the dozens of Marines caught within the transition—whether frozen mid-swing or locked in a guttural roar—went completely motionless. A thick layer of dark blue frost erupted from their boot soles, racing upward to encase their entire biology. It didn't merely restrict their muscle tissue; the absolute chill drawn from the deep dark of Yomi systematically severed the thin link of cursed green fire that the Shichiseiken had woven into their spirits.
Thud. Thud. Thud.
The frozen figures dropped onto the dirt, completely stripped of their combat capacity as the green glare faded from their eyes.
"My, since your spiritual centers are experiencing a fever, let's utilize the cold of the underworld to restore your clarity," Brook remarked, casually adjusting the knot of his tuxedo tie as he turned his face back toward Ace.
"The draw speed on that skeleton... it almost bypassed my dynamic vision entirely," Sabo muttered, a genuine expression of respect tightening his jaw.
With the compound cleared, Maya remained against the timber wall, her fingers white as she clutched the cloth bag, tracking the outlaws with an intense, primitive fear. These newcomers carried a physical density that made the Marine garrison appear entirely trivial.
"Who... what group are you?" she asked, her boots shifting back half a step.
Ace walked across the stone, his eyes looking down at the small bag in her grip. "Lower your guard, girl. My crew has zero interest in reducing your timber to cinders." He extended his hand, his tone carrying the cool, unyielding arrogance of an absolute king. "Relinquish the three jades engineered to regulate the seals."
Maya shivered, tightening her arms over her chest. "No! That is mathematically impossible! These are sacred relics designed to isolate the Shichiseiken! If the stones are cleared from the altar, the demonic sword—having digested a century of pure human resentment—will achieve its absolute awakening—!"
"I required its absolute awakening from the hour we set sail," Ace interrupted, his voice completely level as he looked into her despairing eyes. "A piece of legendary steel that remains locked behind a paper seal is an asset of zero utility to the swordsmen on my deck."
Ace pointed a finger toward Brook's skeletal frame.
"Relinquish the jade elements, and guide our boots toward the high altar. We are going to meet your Marine Instructor Saga, and then..."
Ace's lips thinned into a dangerous, confident line.
"We are going to unlock that mind-controlling demonic sword at its maximum, unmitigated peak—and then we are going to break it to our purpose."
A single relevant question to guide the narrative forward:
Does Ace intend to let the Shichiseiken completely manifest its demonic fire to test Brook's independent soul stability, or will the arrival of Instructor Saga with his own cursed style turn the high altar into a two-front war of sword intent?
