Chapter 46 - Chapter 48:The Attack On Silver Ridge

Morning arrived quietly at the Moonborn temple, but the peace did not last long.

Lyra stood at the edge of the training grounds, watching the warriors move through their drills. The new Moonborn recruits had improved since their first day. Their movements were sharper now, more coordinated. Silver energy flickered faintly around them as they learned to connect with the Heart.

Darius paced nearby, observing the fighters carefully.

"They're learning fast," he said. "Faster than I expected."

Lyra nodded, though her expression remained serious.

"They have to," she replied. "Kael won't give us time."

Just as she finished speaking, the Heart of the Moonborn pulsed inside the temple. The silver light flared suddenly, spreading across the courtyard like a wave.

Every wolf stopped.

Lyra's eyes widened.

"That's not training energy," she whispered.

The first Alpha stepped forward, its massive silver form appearing beside her.

"The Heart is reacting to danger," it said.

A young wolf rushed toward them from the temple entrance, breathless.

"Heir! A messenger from Silver Ridge has arrived!"

Lyra's heart sank.

Silver Ridge was one of the strongest allied packs in the northern territory.

"Bring him here," she ordered.

Moments later, a wounded wolf staggered into the courtyard. His fur was burned in places, and blood stained his shoulder.

"They… they attacked us," he gasped.

Lyra moved quickly to support him.

"Who attacked?"

The wolf looked up, fear flashing in his eyes.

"Kael's rogues… but they're different now. Stronger. Their eyes glow red, and they move like soldiers."

Darius clenched his fists.

"Just like the ones we fought yesterday."

The messenger nodded weakly.

"They destroyed the outer defenses… many wolves are injured… our Alpha sent me to ask for help."

A heavy silence fell over the courtyard.

Lyra's warriors exchanged uneasy glances.

Kael's plan had already begun.

Darius stepped closer to Lyra.

"If we send fighters, the temple becomes weaker."

Lyra knew he was right.

The Heart pulsed again, almost as if it understood the difficult choice before her.

The first Alpha lowered its massive head.

"This is Kael's strategy. He forces you to divide your strength."

Lyra looked at the wounded messenger, then at the warriors training around her.

Finally, she lifted her chin.

"We are not abandoning our allies."

The wolves around her straightened immediately.

Darius sighed quietly but nodded.

"Then we do this carefully."

Lyra turned toward the warriors.

"Ten of our strongest will come with me to Silver Ridge. The rest stay here and continue training with the first Alpha. The temple must remain protected."

The warriors nodded with determination.

A tall she-wolf stepped forward first.

"I'll go with you."

Another wolf followed.

"And me."

Soon ten warriors stood ready.

Their silver auras flickered faintly—the mark of those beginning to bond with the Heart.

Darius stepped beside Lyra.

"You're not going alone."

Lyra gave a small smile.

"I never planned to."

Within minutes, the rescue group was racing through the forest.

The wind rushed past them as they ran across hills and through thick trees.

But the closer they got to Silver Ridge, the stronger the scent of smoke and blood became.

Lyra's stomach tightened.

When they reached the ridge, the sight before them was devastating.

Homes were destroyed.

Trees were scorched.

Wolves fought desperately against the rogue forces flooding into their territory.

Crimson-eyed wolves moved through the battlefield like hunters, striking with terrifying precision.

Darius growled.

"Kael trained them well."

Lyra's silver aura ignited around her.

"Then we stop them."

She leapt forward.

The Moonborn warriors followed her into battle.

Silver energy burst across the battlefield as they collided with the rogue forces.

Lyra struck the first rogue wolf with a blast of silver power, sending him crashing into a broken wall.

Darius fought beside her, his movements fast and deadly.

One rogue lunged toward a wounded Silver Ridge wolf—but a Moonborn warrior intercepted it, slamming the attacker into the ground.

The tide of battle began to shift.

Hope spread among the Silver Ridge defenders as they saw the silver light of the Moonborn.

"Lyra has come!" someone shouted.

But then—

A deep, familiar voice echoed across the battlefield.

"Well… look what we have here."

Lyra froze.

From the top of the ridge, Kael stepped into view.

Crimson energy swirled around him like a storm.

His red eyes gleamed with satisfaction.

"Exactly as I planned," he said slowly.

Darius snarled.

"You used them as bait."

Kael laughed.

"Of course."

He pointed toward the distant forest.

"And while you're here… far away from your precious temple…"

Lyra felt the Heart of the Moonborn suddenly tremble inside her chest.

Her eyes widened.

"No…"

Kael's grin grew wider.

"My other army," he said softly, "is already on its way to the temple."

The realization struck Lyra like lightning.

The temple.

The Heart.

The warriors still training there.

Kael spread his arms.

"Now tell me, Moonborn heir…"

His crimson aura exploded outward.

"…which will you save?" 🐺🔥
