Rohan demanded, the question surfacing from some grim, calculating part of his mind that refused to stop gathering information even in the middle of genuine crisis. "How many people have walked through a fake front door believing they'd finally made it home?"
That information exceeds current disclosure parameters, the voice said, and for the first time, something in its flat, patient tone carried what might have been the faintest trace of evasion.
"That's not a no," Rohan said quietly, dread settling deeper into his chest at everything the entity's careful non-answer implied.
