Elara's first frame stopped her breathing in six seconds.
The chest band held her spine correctly. It also fixed her ribs at the pressure selected before she sat inside.
Pela reached for the breathing bag.
Elara raised her left hand.
Pela stopped.
Kikaru cut the chest band with the frame's side shear. Elara folded forward against his waiting forearm and took one thin breath without the bag.
"Frame one fails," she said.
Nobody adjusted the strap and called it close enough.
The second frame used an open chest and three back supports. Pela controlled the breathing valve. Kikaru controlled the lower spine release. Elara controlled a left-hand exit lever.
During the test, Pela's valve pressure kept the frame stable.
When Elara pulled her exit lever, the frame asked Pela to confirm release.
"No," Elara said.
"I would confirm," Pela answered.
"That makes you my exit."
