Tali was at the freight elevator.
She had her hand on the door release. She had been there for the last sixteen minutes, listening on a channel the Hacker had patched her into and which Caleb had not known about. She said nothing when they came up the corridor. She took one look at the brother and stepped forward and put her arms around him.
He did not cry yet.
He held on.
Tali held on too.
She kept her face turned away from Marcus.
Soma came on the comm at oh-six-thirty-six.
[Soma]: Iseul did not make it. The wound was through the chest. I held him for the last forty-one seconds. He gave me the line he had been saving for Caleb. I will deliver it in person. I will not deliver it on a channel.
Marcus said: "Where is the body."
[Soma]: I have it. I will take it to a place his family can find. He named the place last week. He was not going to make it back. He knew.
"Did he say anything else."
