Chapter 37 - Chapter 37 Why was he here so early today? Was he late?

He was just about to go upstairs to clean and wait for Mage Kreslin to arrive when he saw a familiar figure rushing down the stairs.

Mage Kreslin?

Why was he here so early today? Was he late?

Durin subconsciously glanced at the clock hanging on the wall in the lobby on the first floor; it was exactly 12 o'clock.

Isn't it still very early?

Filled with doubt, Durin subconsciously greeted, "Good afternoon, Mage Kreslin."

"Hmm, you've come at a good time. A major event has recently occurred in Piltover; those Enforcers' violent searches have disrupted Zaun's order. Vander has invited me to The Last Drop, saying he has important matters to discuss with everyone. Come with me."

Mage Kreslin, wearing a gray robe with intricate red patterns on the edges, his hood covering most of his face, asked calmly.

Vander?

Isn't he the leader of Zaun? Mage Kreslin actually has dealings with him?

Durin's heart stirred, but on second thought, it made sense. Mages held a high position in Zaun, so it wasn't strange for him to be able to speak with Zaun's leader.

"Can I go?" Durin was a bit surprised.

The Last Drop, as a landmark building in Black Alley, had high expenses, so he always passed by without entering.

And, at such a high-class event, could an unknown person like him even enter?

"Yes, you not only can go, but you must go with me."

Mage Kreslin said calmly, "Because I will also be meeting a very important Piltoverians friend later, regarding the Emerald Potion. He will introduce me to a Piltover noble, and at that time, I will need you to be by my side as my attendant. Don't worry, you don't need to do anything, just be smart and don't make me lose face. Besides that, I will also get you a more suitable outfit."

Oh? Don't have to do anything and get a free outfit?

Durin immediately agreed, "No problem."

He guessed that Kreslin the Mage probably wanted to use the Emerald Potion to strike a deal with a certain upper-class Piltoverians from Piltover, but he didn't want to appear undignified in front of this esteemed Piltoverians without an attendant. So, he planned to present himself as a mage who lived a life of luxury in Zaun, had a dedicated assistant, and was solely devoted to researching potions.

After receiving Durin's confirmation, Kreslin the Mage showed no surprise, nodding noncommittally. He then said, "Come with me now," and walked towards the door.

Just as he was about to leave the room, Kreslin the Mage took out a brass breathing filter from his pocket and put it on.

This action caused some confusion in Durin's mind. Wasn't this person a mage? Why would he need to wear a breathing filter?

He knew that the previous mage he served, although from the Necromancy school, never wore a breathing filter when going out, believing such technology defiled magic and disdaining to use it.

A single Purification spell prevented the green and grey haze from invading his body, which greatly excited Durin at the time.

But Durin did not ask directly, silently following behind Kreslin the Mage. The other party did not take the public lift, but instead walked towards the private lift.

These so-called private lifts were actually built by the Chem-Barons. They were noiseless, bump-free, had soft, comfortable seats inside, and even provided drinking tea.

Moreover, there was no need to wait for others each time one rode.

It's just that the cost of each ride was much higher, requiring 10 copper circle coins.

Kreslin the Mage pulled a shiny silver coin from his pocket, handed it to the lift attendant, and after receiving 80 copper circle coins in change, he plopped down onto a soft seat and said to Durin, "Oh, by the way, Durin, what do you think about the recent conflict between Piltover and Zaun?"

"Uh..."

Durin fell silent; he didn't know what the mage meant by asking this question.

"It's alright, we're just chatting casually."

Kreslin the Mage said with a smile. He poured himself a cup of tea, took a small sip, and continued, "It's quite a shame, isn't it? Piltover and Zaun are clearly twin cities, one on the surface, one underground. They could have continued to unite and progress together as before, becoming a shining corner of this world, but now they are divided, each forming their own faction, and even showing signs of opposition. The children who caused trouble and stole in Piltover some time ago were merely a microcosm of the conflict between these two cities."
