As yuta slowly regained awareness of the world around him , he glanced at the growing crowd and then glanced at the bloodied body of Rika.
He quietly realized he needs to play the role of a traumatized kid.
The sound of footsteps on cold asphalt echoed in his ears followed by the panicked
Screams of a middle aged woman.
She pulled her phone shakily and dialed a number. The moment she was a couple of feets away her body halted in place on its own.
A shiver crawled down her spine as her instincts screamed at her to run.
She couldn't see anything yet the sheer amount of cursed energy emanating from yuta and Rika made her feel on edge.
Taken a step back, the terrified woman took in deep breaths to try and calm her nerves.
She looked at the child kneeling in front of her then at the other child ...
There was nothing out of the ordinary to be seen yet the moment she got close a wrongness, a pressure out of this world slammed against her.
An ancient part of her tried to back away yet the sight of the blood drenched boy melted her heart.
Taking in deep breaths and sealing away her unease
She went to her knees and started examining the mangled corpse of the girl. Checking for a pulse, a heartbeat yet none was to be found.
Yuta's eyes were focused on Rika who was quietly eying her former body.
He whispered something to her that the blonde woman didn't grasp. She gave the little one a look of pity and started trying to soothe him .
☀️☀️☀️
The police had done All they could to locate the reckless driver but to no avail the man had fled the scene the moment the people realized what actually happened.
All they could do is take the little child to his home and inform both families of the accident.
Yuta played the role of a traumatized kid perfectly. He spaced out for long stretches, cried on command, trembled whenever someone touched him.
By the time they finally left him alone in his room, the house was heavy with grief and the scent of incense his mother had lit in shock
He was currently curled up in his bed trying to draw out his cursed energy.
It was harder than he expected. Cursed energy wasn't chakra or ki . It wasn't pure, nor was it as straightforward as the tainted energies he remembered from other stories. Every technique he tried from half-remembered anime failed.
He slumped against the wall with a frustrated sigh, hands slipping into his pockets.
"Hmm?"
His fingers brushed something cold and metallic. He pulled it out a ring, clearly too large for a child's finger. Yet the moment he saw it, a strange warmth bloomed in his chest.
.
This ring originally belonged to Rika's grandmother before she stole it... I guess she could have also killed her parents but that's just a theory, a very plausible one .
Suddenly a thought struck him Dead square like a thunderbolt.
Why struggle with cursed energy when you have an endless battery that you can use as an example .
He slid the ring onto his finger. It was comically oversized, but the moment it touched his skin, it shrank and adjusted perfectly to his size.
Yuta took a deep breath and focused again. This time, instead of forcing against a wall, it felt like gently pulling on a taut string.
He took a deep breath and started focusing like before. This time instead of pushing a wall it felt like pulling a string.
As the room's temperature dropped a shadowy figure started materializing.soon the hands emerged followed by a head and the rest of her bod... Well half body is more accurate
"Yuta…?" Rika's voice came out distorted, yet it still carried a faint echo of the girl she had been.
He sat up straighter, heart pounding with a mix of awe and guilt. "Hey… sorry for calling you so late." He gestured for her to come closer.
The confused spirit drifted down, hovering like a child sitting uncomfortably on an invisible chair
"You know what cursed energy is right? Can you show me how you use it"
Rika tilted her head, thinking carefully before answering in that eerie, layered voice. "Cursed energy ...is the byproduct of negative emotions"
"Yeah I already knew that but for some reason I can't get it out. I can feel it in there but it is unresponsive.like trying to move a mountain with a straw "
"You have too much cursed energy now," Rika said simply. "It makes controlling small amounts nearly impossible.
Imagine it starting in your abdomen… then spreading out slowly, like ink in water."
Yuta closed his eyes and sank his mind into total darkness, following her guidance. He could feel it vast, churning, limitless
Like an endless void filled with dark suffocating and dense energy.
This time instead of drawing out a small portion, he threw his body in that thick ocean.
It was like drowning over and over yet never actually dying, quite the opposite in fact.
The moment he got control over his senses and started absorbing the cursed energy into his abdomen he felt intoxicated.
That feeling of corrupting power making you reach heights you though were impossible.
Like an ink dropped in water, yuta's body was flooded with cursed energy. Opening his eyes, he examined the purple pinkish aura surrounding his own arm.
As the achievement finally sinked in he excitedly attempted to stand up only to break the bed in the Process.
Wincing from the trouble coming his way yuta sheepishly turned to Rika who was more worried about him than the broken bed.
"Thank you Rika " pulling the cursed spirit into a tight embrace he suppressed a tear that threatened to fall." I promise I will turn you back, I promise"
