~Elsie's POV
The question landed differently. My smile did not disappear fully, but it shifted, like it froze halfway on my face. My hands, which had been resting loosely on the bed, suddenly felt like I did not know what to do with them anymore.
"Oh," I said quietly.
Gianna noticed the change instantly, and that made her straightened a little.
"What?" she asked, more carefully this time.
I looked away for a second, trying to find the right way to explain it without making it sound strange.
"I was drunk," I said finally, a little too quickly. "It was not something planned or anything like that."
I tried to laugh lightly after saying it, but it did not really come out the same way as before. Gianna stopped laughing completely, and her expression changed in an instant. She just stared at me, and for a few seconds, she did not say anything at all.
Then she blinked slowly.
"Wait," she said, her voice lower now. "Was it my brother that made you drunk?"
