Chapter 15 - Chapter 15: Collision

The room went still. Amara's breath caught as the two men faced each other. The stranger's smile didn't fade. "You again," he said lightly. "Still playing guard?" The young man stepped fully inside, eyes sharp. "Step away from her." His voice was low, controlled—but tense.

Amara's heart pounded as she moved back, her mind racing. The stranger glanced at her briefly, then back at him. "You really think you can stop me?" he asked.

"I don't need to stop you," the young man replied. "Just delay you."

The words hit differently.

Amara's chest tightened. "…Delay?"

Before she could think further—the stranger moved. Fast. His hand shot forward, aiming straight for her again.

"Watch out!"

The young man intercepted him instantly. Their arms collided with a sharp impact. The force pushed them both back slightly. The room erupted into motion.

Amara stumbled further away, her heart racing wildly as she watched them. This wasn't like anything she had seen before. Their movements were quick, precise—like they had done this many times.

The stranger smirked. "You've improved."

The young man didn't respond. He moved again, striking first this time. The stranger blocked, countered, forcing him back.

Amara's hands trembled. "This is bad…" she whispered.

She glanced at the door. Open. Clear.

Run.

But her feet didn't move.

A loud thud echoed as the young man was pushed back against the table. The stranger stepped forward immediately, pressing the advantage. "You're outmatched," he said calmly.

"Maybe," the young man replied, breathing harder now, "but I'm not alone."

The stranger paused slightly.

That moment—

Was enough.

The young man grabbed the edge of the table and flipped it forward. The stranger stepped back to avoid it.

"Now!"

Amara snapped out of it.

She ran.

Her feet hit the ground hard as she rushed past them, out the door, back into the passage. Her heart pounded so fast it hurt. She didn't look back.

"Keep running!" his voice echoed behind her.

The passage felt endless again. Dark. Twisting. Confusing. But this time, she didn't slow.

"I won't get caught…" she whispered, breath uneven. Not again.

Behind her—

A crash.

Then silence.

Her chest tightened painfully.

He's still there."

She slowed for a second. Just a second.

Then clenched her fists.

"No… he told me to run."

And she did.

She turned a corner—

And suddenly collided with something solid.

A hand grabbed her arm, steadying her before she could fall.

Amara froze.

Slowly… she looked up.

Him.

Her breath caught. "You—"

You never stay where you're told," he said calmly.

Relief hit her so fast it almost hurt.

"You're okay…" she said quickly. "He's still back there—the other man, and

I know," he cut in.

Her chest tightened again.

Then we have to go back," she said. "He's alone

No.

The word was firm. Final.

Amara stared at him. "What do you mean no?"

We move forward," he said. "Now.

Her hands clenched. "We can't just leave him!"

A pause.

Then—

He made his choice.

The words hit hard.

Amara shook her head. "No… you don't understand—he's helping me

I understand perfectly," he said, his gaze locking onto hers.

Silence.

Heavy.

Then his voice dropped slightly.

And right now… you're the priority."

Her breath caught.

Before she could argue again—

Another sound echoed behind them.

Footsteps.

More than one.

Closing in.

His grip on her arm tightened slightly.

We're out of time.

Amara's heart pounded. She glanced back once more—toward where she came from.

Don't die," she whispered under her breath.

Then she turned.

And followed him.

Because now she understood something clearly—

This wasn't just escape anymore.

This was survival.
