Chapter 10 - Chapter 10 - Leaving Raisin

The next morning.

The weather was perfect, the sun giving warmth to the earth and the wind giving the breeze to people.

Silas covered his eyes as he looked up at the sky. He saw birds flying across the sky. Some create a sonic boom due to immense speed.

Absurd.

'Luckily, those birds are quite weak. Otherwise, they will terrorize the ground with their speed.' Silas thought.

"Sir, the carriages and horses are ready. It is a shame that we can't find any merchants going to Palm Mountain." Old Gin came and gave him a word.

"Yeah. But we can't do anything about it. You have a map right?" Silas asked.

Old Gin took out a rolled paper and gave it to Silas.

"I will check in the carriage." Silas said, swinging the map. He then turned around to face the two women accompanying him.

'Am I having a popular phase?' He joked inwardly and sighed. ' Such beauty will only bring me trouble. But I can't lose them now.'

"Come, follow me, you two will sit with me." Silas said. "Oh, just to be sure that you don't take me as a pervert, there will be my knight as well."

He hated the fact that he had to explain. Now that he thought about it, maybe this kind of rumor spread fast because this world is an Eroge game.

He entered inside the carriage and was greeted by Roland in his armor. He flashed a big smile at Silas.

"I am getting used to being called captain." Roland said.

"Good for you, Captain."

"Don't call me that. It gives me a creep."

Silas made a disgusted face and sighed.

"I heard that sighing is not good for your body." Ice-pick joined the conversation. The succubus pointed at her forehead, attempting to recall the knowledge she heard.

Silas put his hand on her soft shoulder and looked at her with great pity. The succubus was not just a fool for love but also dumb as well.

"Ah, I remember. I don't like your look, Mr.Silas." Ice-pick said.

"Deal with it. I was born with it." Silas waved his hand, taking out his book.

Luna took a seat in front of him and peeked over the book. But she was met with disappointment as it was just a novel and poetry. He still didn't get about the poetry but he wanted to try new things in this world.

Maybe he would like it here with his brain now messed up by the transmigration.

"A sigh meant your happiness escaped from you."

"That is a dumb saying." Silas said flatly.

"I don't think so, Silas." Roland butted in with a smile. "Because every time you sighed, I saw the color left in your mouth. It was heartbreaking to look at. So I have to turn around."

"Wow. And you are my Personal guard."

Luna giggled from the side quietly.

The small window opened and Old Gin's face revealed. He looked at the group and said, "We are going to leave, Young sir."

Silas nodded. "Okay. Oh, I forgot about the map."

Silas gave the map back to Old Gin. He already marked the map and drew a crude route but with experienced Old Gin, he was sure he could figure it out.

'I am going to need money. With my current fund, I can feed this group for 8 months but I want to spend lavishly.' Silas sighed.

"Another happiness." Ice-pick murmured from the side. She was sitting in front of Roland, who was sitting beside Silas.

Silas lay back and opened the book. He looked over at Luna. She was nervous, her hands shaking which she hid under her massive robe.

She had placed her tall pointed hat to the side, making a gap between her and Ice-pick. Silas sighed inwardly.

He closed the book and looked at Luna.

Luna felt his glance and turned to face him. She nodded at him timidly.

"I will teach a fundamental skill for a mage. Not just a mage. For every loving being." He also looked at the other two.

"Just think of this as a fool's advice." Silas paused, looking around with a soft smile.

"Just stay calm. No matter how dire the circumstances are, you need to stay calm. Don't try to find answers. Solutions. Just stay calm."

"What if you can't stay calm?" Ice-pick asked.

"Then you stay calm." Silas pointed at her.

"It is complicated." Ice-pick scratched her head.

"You will understand if you know a way to make it calm." Silas said. He then looked at Luna.

Their gazes met and she evaded his eyes, looking out at the window.

They were still inside the town so there was no noteworthy view to look at. Raisin Town was built for functionality with its mind. And it is in his best interest to make a commotion here.

Not because it would tarnish his name. Because the towns were scary places filled with powerful people.

One can't underestimate the power that the town can bring upon a group of people.

But Silas was better than regular folk after all, he still had the backing of the Viremont family.

"Luna, tell me which sort of magecraft you can use? And what is your goal in magecraft? Tell me so I can plan my lessons and see if your specialization matches with my knowledge." Silas said softly.

Luna nodded and opened her mouth to speak but words stuck inside her throat. She coughed.

Seeing her struggle to just speak, Silas handed her a water bottle. He casted a chill magecraft onto the bottle, making it ice cold.

She accepted the bottle and drank it, clearing her head.

"Thanks." Luna said. "My… My specialization is Earth, Healing and Barriers."

Silas nodded, scratching his chin. "Quite a broad study of magecraft for second circle mage. But well, do you have a gift?"

Luna shook her head. "I don't."

"Alright, I will teach you about tier three barrier magecraft. As for healing, I don't have much talent for that so I can only teach you about tier three healing chants."

Luan's eyes widened. "That is enough. Healing chants are the most difficult magecraft to learn. You are quite talented, Sir Silas."

"Just call me Silas." Silas waved his hand.

The carriage came to halt.

Silas looked up at the window and saw Old Gin speaking with the city guards. After that, the guards let go and they arrived at the crude road.

Because of the interior of the carriage, there was no movement inside.

Silas asked Luna to display her barrier magic.

Ice-pick and Roland were observing her with great interest. Roland was admiring her work while Ice-pick was thinking about how she could use that kind of magic to capture her lover.

The only one seriously paying attention to her barrier was Silas. He stared at the flaw and strength of the barrier.

"Good. Good. The barrier is suited for travel. It doesn't consume that much mana and the activation speed was top notch among Tier Two barriers." Silas nodded in approval.

Luna smiled as she listened to his words. She was proud of her words.

But Silas was not done yet. He began listing all the flaws of the barrier.

"But the output of the barrier is quite weak. You can't block high level Tier one spell effectively. "

"It….it can block it." Luna said. "It can even block Tier 2 spells and buy time for Tier 3 spells."

"Oh. You don't believe me?"

"It is not like that. It is just…."

"I will demonstrate it. Deploy the barrier on that tree. Fast." Silas said, pointing at the small tree through the window.

Luna quickly crafted a barrier and threw it to the tree.

"Done." The process lasted about 5 seconds.

Silas lifted up his hand, pointing his finger at the tree.

Right now, he has gained control of the second circle in the mana core and is just one step away from getting the third circle.

But he didn't need any high level circle to execute the Tier one magecraft.

He channeled mana into the first circle, activating the spell crest inside that circle. In an instant, a magecraft appeared and shot out from his finger.

The mana beam collided with the barrier.

Luna's eyes widened and were about to nod in satisfaction when the barrier cracked. The mana beam then slipped into the crack, piercing the tree.

Silas withdrew his finger and smiled at Luna. "See. What I just used was Tier 1 spell called Pierce. A relatively ordinary spell."

"How?" Luna asked.

"Sir, don't shoot random trees with magecraft. We are still in the range of Raisin." Old Gin voiced from the front.

"Yeah. Sorry." Silas said. He then turned his attention onto Luna. "Well, it is still early but let's start the lessons. Show me your spell crest."

Luna paused and nodded slowly.

Revealing a spell crest meant giving away your own spell. Most spells used by mages were their own creation. Because of that they kept the most important of not showing the crest.

Luna opened up her palm and showed Silas her barrier crest.

She developed this crest on her own and she had been proud of that.

Silas looked at the crest and understood the process behind. Whether it was because Previous Silas's mage talent or his own talent. He didn't know.

He didn't question as there was no meaning in such meaningless behavior.

He ordered Luna to stop. He then recreated the crest, showing her that.

She looked down at her feet, seeing the crest on his hand.

"What's wrong? It is not right?" Silas asked.

"Oh no… it is just… it is difficult to see someone succeeding in one try. It is frustrating." Luna whispered. Silas alone heard her soft voice. "I spend hours upon hours perfecting this crest, you know."

Silas looked at her with a strange look. He understood that feeling quite well. Seeing someone surpass your hard work in an instant.

He was known as a con man on earth. He was known as Silas Viremont here.

The previous con man would not know how to reply to those words but he knew now. He had inherited everything from Previous Silas.

He gently grabbed at Luna's hand and whispered. "Do you love magic?"
