The Journey Continues.
The morning sun rose slowly into the sky, covering everything in warm sunlight.
The wind continued gently, turning the experience heavenly.
The warm sunlight and the wind gently hitting the skin was comforting. So much so that it even worked on Ray Raynold.
Lina was already awake and out of the mattress. She walked around a little, picking flowers and admiring the view of the sunrise.
After a few minutes, she saw Ray still sleeping. She took gentle steps towards him and sat next to him. She poked his cheek gently with a finger, trying to wake him up.
"Papa. Wake up." she said gently while poking his cheek.
"Five more minutes," Ray replied before covering himself with the blanket again.
That reply from Ray was news. He never said anything like that before. but little Lina didn't find anything weird, just her dear papa wanting to sleep more.
So she laid down beside him and hugged him. Maybe instinctively, Ray hugged her back.
After a while, they were eating breakfast, well, only Lina was, when Lina asked "Papa, did the bunnies leave?"
The sentence sting a little. Because he couldn't tell her that the bunnies she liked were the exact ones she was eating right now as skewers.
"Yeah," he replied with a perfect smile. "They left."
"Aww," Lina showed her dissatisfaction with a pout. "I wanted to play more."
"We might find more later. Maybe." Ray was being sarcastic by saying that because he knew that it wasn't easy at all finding them because that is the type of place it is.
After eating, they started walking again. While walking, Lina asked "Papa, when will we get out of this place?"
"It's gonna take a while," he replied. "But don't worry. I'm here with you."
"I know! And Papa is the best." Lina said as she started speed-walking, maybe thinking it would get her out of here faster.
The Calm Plains were always built in one of three shapes: Circle, Triangle, and Square.
The one Ray was in was most probably the Triangle because Circles are extremely rare. And Squares have a tendency to have a few predators, which he hasn't seen any.
That's why Ray wasn't moving straight. He was moving diagonally ever since he entered the Calm Plains because it increases the chance of them not going towards a corner. Because if they were moving towards a corner, it would take them a really long time to get out of this place.
Just then, Lina turned around and stopped to looked at Ray.
"What's wrong, kiddo?" Ray asked, genuinely confused.
"Papa," Lina said with a low voice. "I haven't seen you eat anything."
Ray realized that Lina noticed it and might be worried. So he immediately thought up an excuse.
"Well, I did eat. Those little protein bars I took from that store. I ate them all."
Lina seriously exploded with anger. "Papa you dummy! I wanted some too!"
Ray saved himself from worrying Lina. At least for the meantime. But now he has to deal with her pouting because she thinks he ate all the candies they got from the store.
Will Lina find out about Ray's secret that he's starving himself?
Will Ray be able to think up an excuse every time she asked?
How long will it take them to leave this place?
