Chapter 121 - Ada Wong: How Wonderful, What Kind of Cuckolding Plot Is This?

From these two choices, Bai Ye understood that he was being given two different routes.

One path for the T-Virus evolution was to create a batch of super-soldiers, as he had previously mentioned, and then change the world.

The other path was to create an army of monsters — essentially a replica of Umbrella Corporation.

"Then... I'll choose the first one!"

Bai Ye only thought for a moment before arriving at his answer. Although the other option could guarantee greater enhanced power, its uncontrollability was still a serious concern. Choosing the first option offered stability.

Moreover, this could be used by other people in the chat group, which further confirmed Bai Ye's choice.

"Ding! Selection complete. Samples have been distributed. Please check."

Three T-Virus samples appeared in Bai Ye's pocket.

From this, it was clear that further analysis would be needed later — three samples were simply not enough. Bai Ye still needed Red Queen to research these samples, striving to thoroughly understand them within the month.

This wasn't just the Resident Evil world; CSOL could truly destroy this Earth. Bai Ye needed to race against time.

"So, has my leader thought of something happy?"

Ada Wong looked at Bai Ye with a calm, measured gaze. It wasn't her imagination — there seemed to be a fleeting excitement about him. His thoughts were quite erratic.

"You'll find out later."

"..."

She now utterly detested the saying that secrets make a man manlier.

Staying beside a man who spoke only in riddles was truly an uncomfortable experience.

"The G Virus sample is not only being targeted by us — Umbrella Corporation has already moved on it as well. Now, the only way to obtain it is from William Birkin himself, so we need to hurry!"

Did he even know the situation inside?

Ada Wong was even more surprised, completely unable to understand how Bai Ye, having been outside the entire time, could have such a thorough grasp of the intelligence within.

Was it that little girl from before?

That's right!

That little girl — the artificial intelligence!

Ada Wong suddenly realized something: all of this man's intelligence seemed to come from her, didn't it?

"Can I see your artificial intelligence?"

This was Ada Wong's first time encountering something like this. That little girl had instantly cracked all of Umbrella's defenses upon arrival. Could such ability really belong to someone without an organization?

Although he had formed one now, in Ada Wong's view, if she hadn't joined, he would be virtually indistinguishable from a lone operator.

"Red Queen?"

Bai Ye spoke, and with a thought, Red Queen materialized from the watch on his wrist: "Hello."

"Hello."

How truly remarkable.

Being greeted by an artificial intelligence — it had to be said that this man had no shortage of secrets.

"We've arrived."

There were actually still samples in the laboratory, preserved by William Birkin's wife, Annette Birkin, who was also a researcher. Sherry had some as well.

However, obtaining the G Virus from Annette seemed only possible through Sherry.

"You seem very familiar with this place."

Ada Wong followed behind Bai Ye. The entire way, Bai Ye had perfectly avoided various monsters and moved unimpeded — no detours, no searching, just a straight path into the depths of the laboratory.

His intelligence capabilities made even her feel outmatched.

"Red Queen."

"Is this little girl really that capable?"

She had previously thought the AI could only decrypt systems. Now it appeared she could handle intelligence gathering and a wide range of other tasks — which meant Ada Wong had to completely reassess Red Queen.

She hadn't expected this artificial intelligence to be far more capable than herself, a seasoned intelligence operative.

"Yes, don't underestimate artificial intelligence. Perhaps in a few years, no one in this world will be smarter than Red Queen."

Bai Ye praised Red Queen without hesitation, and in his opinion, that wasn't an exaggeration. In the films, Red Queen had already shown hints of something extraordinary. Ultimately, had she not been forcibly restricted, she could have accomplished far more.

That limitation had been a matter of permissions. Here, with him, he would not place excessive restrictions on Red Queen. Bai Ye was genuinely looking forward to seeing how she would develop.

"Can she be mass-produced?"

Ada Wong asked out of curiosity.

If that were possible, wouldn't it be better to carry a system like this for future operations?

Though one concern was that she would be monitored at all times.

Still, if she could obtain an artificial intelligence like Red Queen before deciding to leave, that seemed like quite a worthwhile gain.

"Perhaps."

Even Bai Ye himself wasn't entirely certain, though it seemed highly probable. He could disperse Red Queen's consciousness into smaller instances, with his Red Queen acting as the primary entity overseeing all of them.

After returning, he could have Red Queen lead that project and see what came of it. Though, come to think of it, that would also make eavesdropping rather convenient...

"Ah, we made it just in time."

Bai Ye felt a wave of relief looking at the scene before him.

"Is that William?"

Ada Wong looked at William Birkin, whose face was still vaguely recognizable. At this moment, half of his once-handsome face had become monstrous, and the transformation had spread to half his body.

G-1 form.

Having just injected the G Virus, his right arm was grotesquely enlarged, and a second eye had opened on his upper shoulder.

He had lost his sanity. At this moment, William was targeting Sherry, intent on destroying anyone who stood in his way.

On one hand, it was the instinctual drive of the G Virus; on the other, it was the resentment he had carried into death.

"Save that woman — she has the G Virus sample!"

Bai Ye said, drawing his pistol and firing several shots at William Birkin. It was little more than an annoyance to William, but it successfully drew his attention.

Since Annette was still alive and had participated in the G Virus research as William's wife, keeping her alive was very important.

"Aim for the eye!"

William's first stage came with powerful regenerative abilities, but his eye was his weakness.

After a coordinated burst of fire with Ada Wong, William let out a cry of pain and dropped Annette to the ground, then turned his agonized gaze on Bai Ye and Ada Wong — these two sudden intruders.

His right shoulder surged forward in a charge toward Bai Ye. The mindless William could only resort to such brute methods.

"An Iron Mountain Lean?"

Bai Ye went quiet for a moment. No wonder certain techniques from various schools could always be recognized at a glance. It seemed William Birkin's move also came from that same old acquaintance.

Perhaps he too had trained for two and a half years before injecting himself with the G Virus.

"Get out of the way!"

Ada Wong called out urgently — she had no desire to see the organization she had just joined collapse so quickly.

She could leave, but he couldn't just die like that.

"Don't worry, I won't die!"

Saying that, Bai Ye grabbed a steel pipe from the ground and charged directly at William Birkin.

"Brute..."

Ada Wong rubbed her forehead, a knot of unease forming in her chest. Her organization's leader was about to throw his life away.

Given William's current state, she couldn't imagine why Bai Ye would dare to confront him head-on. That man was a monster now... and yet he actually stopped him?!

Ada Wong's eyes went wide in disbelief as she watched Bai Ye block William Birkin's charge with a steel pipe.

The gap in power between them was surprisingly small!

That was absurd — William was a monster who had injected himself with the G Virus, something widely regarded as surpassing even the T-Virus. She had studied the situation carefully and knew exactly what the G Virus was capable of. Could something like that really be stopped by an ordinary person?

"Is this guy serious?!"

Annette, who had just picked herself up off the ground, stared at the scene before her, even more stunned than Ada Wong.

Could it be that Umbrella's super-soldier program had actually been completed?

But...

Weren't those all BOWs?

"Truly formidable — as expected of the G Virus!"

A hint of surprise flashed through Bai Ye's eyes. He had the passive Eight Gates. Although he hadn't mastered all eight, relentless training had already brought him to the Sixth Gate.

His overall capabilities had improved enormously. Bai Ye had initially believed his current strength would be sufficient to subdue William. When he poured more force into his arms, a deep crater instantly formed in the ground beside William, pinning him in place.

This was an absolute suppression of raw power.

It was a fighting style Ada Wong had never witnessed before. Even this monster who had injected himself with the G Virus was no match for Bai Ye. What did that say about her own earlier encounter with him?

He had been toying with her the entire time.

"Ada, get some of his cells first."

This was William's first stage — his most primitive form. William might mutate and evolve further, so Bai Ye wanted to secure a sample now.

"Understood!"

Ada Wong nodded. Taking advantage of William being held down by Bai Ye, she produced a small knife and cut a piece of tissue from William's body, then placed it into a special preservation container.

The G Virus was essentially in hand — not in its most original form, but fused into living tissue. It was becoming increasingly clear that following this man had more prospects than her previous organization.

"Do you think you can kill him?"

Ada Wong suddenly wondered: if they could finish William off entirely, wouldn't such a large specimen be even more valuable than a small tissue sample?

"Please — kill William."

Annette spoke up at that moment, her voice strained with quiet desperation. She could feel William's suffering. As his wife, she knew better than anyone that death would be a mercy now. He was already a monster.

Strange as it sounded, and even knowing the two people in front of her were after the G Virus, Annette also understood clearly that the man before her could suppress the monster William had become, and Ada Wong was watching her from the side. She had no options left.

"Madam, you don't want your husband to go on suffering like this, do you?"

"..."

Had this man watched too many melodramatic films?

Ada Wong muttered to herself, a pang of discomfort running through her. She couldn't help but feel that saying something like that, under these circumstances, and saying it in front of the woman's husband no less — wouldn't it come across as... Oh. Her leader was apparently even more shameless than Simmons had ever been.

She would need to be careful. Perhaps she should reconsider leaving the organization now.

She already had the G Virus, after all.

Staying any longer might not be necessary.

"What do you actually want? The G Virus?"

A trace of pain crossed Annette's face as she hesitated internally over whether to agree. The situation was nothing like she had expected.

William, I'm sorry.

A quiet sorrow passed through Annette's eyes. She had made her decision. After Bai Ye killed William, she would take her own life as well. She would not allow the G Virus sample to be leaked under any circumstances.

This was not only to protect the world, but also to ensure William's life's work was not stolen by others.

"I need the G Virus sample — and I need you as well!"

Bai Ye laid out his terms.

Upon hearing those words, a fleeting look of amusement crossed Ada Wong's face. This man was quite the Cao Cao figure.

Looking at William still pinned to the ground, she imagined a green light materializing above his head. His G Virus taken, and now his wife being claimed too — what kind of cuckolding plot was this?!

And all of it happening right in front of William. This scenario... well, she had seen something like it in a certain genre of film.

"Perhaps I wasn't entirely clear. When I said I need you, I don't mean you as a person in that sense. I need you to continue researching the G Virus. My goal is to control its mutability — to make it something that can strengthen the human body without turning people into monsters. As William's wife and a fellow researcher, you understand this work better than anyone else here. So — wouldn't you rather see your husband's research live on, instead of being buried?"

A misunderstanding, clearly.

Ada Wong felt a pang of guilt for where her thoughts had wandered, though she also couldn't help but point out internally that if Bai Ye hadn't phrased things so ambiguously in the first place, she never would have gone there at all.

So the imaginary green light could be taken off William's head — for now.

Annette was taken aback as well. She had initially assumed this man was making a move on her, but it turned out he simply wanted her to continue the G Virus research as a scientist.

Even so, Annette felt some hesitation on this point. She had not been the primary researcher — that had been William. Although she had participated in the research alongside him, her contributions simply didn't carry the same weight as his.

But she also couldn't bear the thought of the G Virus being buried. It had been the greatest achievement of William's life. Yet if it fell into the wrong hands and was used to destroy the world, she would rather it had never existed at all — it would only bring more tragedy.

"How can I trust you?"

Annette hesitated, neither agreeing nor immediately refusing.

"You have no choice but to trust me. In return, I can help you rescue Sherry Birkin."

Sherry was Annette and William's daughter, currently somewhere in the police station. As soon as William was dealt with, he could move on her immediately.

The moment Bai Ye spoke that name, Annette's resolve wavered.

She was a researcher — and to prevent a biological virus from spreading, she could, in principle, accept sacrificing even Sherry. But Sherry hadn't been caught up in any of this yet, and she was the only child she and William had in this world.

If Sherry died...

She glanced at William, and Annette finally made her decision. She would accept Bai Ye's terms. At the very least, this way, William's last bloodline would be preserved.

And at the sound of Sherry's name, William instantly became agitated, his resistance surging with renewed ferocity.

In Bai Ye's eyes, he looked to be on the verge of mutation.

This...!

"I agree — and you must stop William, so he is no longer this monster!"

Annette had already seen William's berserk state clearly enough to know he would go after their daughter. The G Virus was something they had built together.

I'm sorry, William...
