Chapter 5 - The Devil's Offer

Klaus's POV

"I accept your proposal, Klaus Marshall!", I watched Arabella confess, her face covered in sorrows and deep regret but i could see more, i could see the broken pieces of her heart and her undying thirst for revenge, it was boldly written.

Staring into her eyes, i thought about two things: will she uphold her end of the bargain?, or will she ruin everything and make this whole plan lay to waste?. Time was running out and i couldn't take more chances, not after encountering women who thought me vital lessons that i would never forget in a hurry, she kept staring, the silence growing stronger as our thoughts banged hard, she turned to leave in defeat, fearing that i had rejected for just like her husband.

"Are you sure about this?, there's no turning back once you sign the contract" I revealed briefly, stirring up that tension i itched for, checking to see if she would freak out and change her mind.

"I have never been this sure about anything in my life, I'm broken and ruined, my whole life is a mess right now so believe me when i saw that I'm fucking sure Mr Klaus!" She screamed, her voice filled with rage and emotions all twisted together to make a sentence.

It was the exact thing I needed, a tragic event to fuel her rage enough to keep her in line, a smile etched on the corner of my lips as left her standing, I grabbed my glass of wine and as she walked in, she shut the door with a loud bang.

"You aren't saying anything?, are you rejecting me?, I have had enough of that for one night. I want to get your answer Mr Klaus" she thundered, her voice almost cutting through my calm resolve.

"I can see the rage in you. Your heart is all made up about this"

"All I want from you is to keep your word Mr Klaus, your help in making my ex-husband pay for his sins!"

Silence engulfed us for some split seconds as I thought about the terms and what i offered her in exchange.

"You have nothing to fear, a contract has been drafted and you will sign them, sealing our agreement" I revealed.

"Give me whatever papers you want me to sign, give them to me!" She screamed, the look of desperation and pain covering her face.

"You need some rest, you have had enough for one night, we will continue in the morning" I shunned her quickly, she dismissed herself from my presence, and i quickly dialed my assistants number.

"Good evening, Mr Klaus, i trust that this is important, sir," his calm voice spoke up.

"It is Rafael, I think I have found a perfect lady to carry out my plans, inform my mother that I will be coming home tomorrow."

"So quickly sir?, this will raise a lot of suspicion from your family sir, no one will believe such a union that happened out of thin air!" Rafael revealed, the tone of fear embedded in his voice.

Rafael always stood out as my assistant after serving my father before his untimely death. His advice and wisdom were unmatched, but i always remained the stubborn brat who never listened no matter the odds

"My plan is going to work Rafael, no one will ever suspect a thing unless you breathe a word about any of this"

"Not at all, Mr Klaus, my allegiance is to you only, sir," he revealed quickly, his tone raised and firm.

I smiled again, knowing that my plans were in play, nothing could possibly go wrong at this point. "Then prepare to welcome us, inform my mother that I'm bringing home a wife that she desired for me for all eternity," i revealed and hung up immediately.

My alarm beeped, it was past my bedtime but pressing issues kept me awake as i sat on my couch, mapping out plans to claim my inheritance and everything that was stolen from my father, i wasn't going to sit back and allow my birthright fall into the wrong hands. Hours rolled by unnoticed until the sun's rays flashed at my eyes, revealing that i hadn't had any sleep. I went straight for Arabella's room only to find her still deep in her sleep, my phone beeped, it was a call from my mother.

"Klaus, is it true?" She asked curiously, her question sending me into a timezone of thoughts.

"What do you mean, mother?" I asked.

"Rafael told me you're coming home today and with a woman, is it true?" She asked again.

"Rafael won't dare lie about me, it is the truth mother, you can go ahead with your preparations because i am fully ready to get married mummy dearest" i spoke sweetly, my words elevating the joy in her heart. She always dreamt of the day i would finally get married, it would be a dream fulfilled when i finally placed a ring on a woman's finger and declared her my wife. I woke Arabella from her deep slumber at once, there wasn't time and i didn't plan on wasting any.

"Get yourself dressed, we are heading to the airport now!" I yelled at her.

"Why?" She dared to ask.

I ignored her question, staring into her eyes furiously, she took the hint at once and walked into the bathroom, shutting the door tightly before i exited her room.

I had my bags parked and as she stepped out, ten armed officers were outside, she froze the minute she stepped out.

"They are here to escort us to the airport" i said, easing the tension building up in her head.

I kept making calls as the convoy drove to the airport, she would occasionally stare at me and look in the other direction when I caught her eyes.

"Where are you taking me to?" She asked.

"I'm taking your wretched soul to a new place and a new life you never dreamt of and from this moment, you shall refer to me as Lord Klaus. I'm your savior now and you must honor my commands!" I said with authority, she tried to speak but the words hung in her throat, my aura silencing her thoughts and any action she dared to take.
