Anha didn't even get the chance to understand what was happening before the Rainbow sent her to another time—just a few days before Kang Ha-joon's death.
This time, she found herself standing in the middle of a road.
The cemetery that had surrounded her moments ago vanished as if it had never existed. Everything returned to normal, yet she knew she had been thrown into an unfamiliar time once again.
But what was the Rainbow trying to show her?
Just moments ago, she had been sent to a time where she was a school student… and now this?
As she slowly walked forward, Anha noticed someone approaching from a distance—just like before.
The road was sloped, and the figure was still too far away for her to see clearly. But somehow… she was certain.
It had to be Kang Ha-joon.
The Rainbow had told her it would show her three things. And in each of them… Kang Ha-joon would be there.
"Haaa… this doesn't make any sense… I'm so frustrated…"
She muttered to herself.
The time was the same as before—late afternoon. The sunlight was soft, spreading a golden glow across everything.
And then…
The man passed right by her.
Anha froze.
It felt like her entire world had collapsed in that single moment.
What… had she just seen?
She couldn't recognize Kang Ha-joon anymore.
His eyesight seemed almost gone. His body was swollen—almost twice the size of a normal person. His clothes were torn, his shoes worn out. His hair was long, messy, completely unkempt.
He looked like someone who had been locked away in a mental asylum for years without proper treatment.
No one would recognize him now.
"Can't you recognize him?"
The Rainbow's voice suddenly echoed beside her.
Anha remained silent.
It felt like her body and soul had been disconnected. Words couldn't express what she was feeling.
Ignoring the Rainbow, she spoke—
"Stop there."
No response.
Kang Ha-joon kept walking as if he hadn't heard anything.
He had nothing left in this world anymore.
Everything he once had… he had given up—for someone else's happiness.
And now, in his broken state, he considered himself lucky.
Even his sense of awareness was fading.
But…
When he heard Anha's voice, something stirred inside him.
It felt familiar.
Had he heard this voice before?
Who… was this woman?
She was wearing a wedding gown.
Why did she feel so familiar?
"Stop there… Didn't you hear me? I said stop!"
This time, Kang Ha-joon stopped.
Slowly, he turned and looked at her.
And then…
His empty eyes filled with joy.
Seeing Anha dressed as a bride, he felt an overwhelming happiness.
To him, it looked like she had fulfilled her dreams… that she was finally going to start her own family.
Years ago, Anha had left him behind—left the old house, the old village—to chase her future in the city and build her business.
And now…
She looked beautiful.
Like an angel descending from heaven—only for him.
"You're beautiful… as always… I always wanted you to be happy… and you did it…"
With that, Kang Ha-joon turned away again…
And continued walking toward an endless destination.
Only death could stop him now.
There was nothing left in this world that could hold him back.
Seeing Anha unable to speak, the Rainbow moved slightly and said,
"If you want to talk… you should. This might be your last meeting. You may never see each other again. Kang Ha-joon will most likely die within this month."
Tears streamed down Anha's face.
She couldn't stop them anymore.
She collapsed to the ground, crying out loud.
In life, she had been successful. A strong, accomplished person.
So why… did it feel like she had lost everything today?
Why did it feel like she had lost someone irreplaceable… just to chase a future she could never truly grasp?
"Why…? Why did this happen to me…? What did I do wrong…?"
No one was there to hear her cries.
The Rainbow kept talking to itself, but Anha didn't care anymore.
There was nothing left for her to want.
Suddenly—
She was back in the cemetery.
Just moments ago, she had been in the past… hadn't she?
Her patience finally broke.
She realized—
The Rainbow was trying to show her something… something she didn't understand yet.
"Rainbow…"
"Oh? You're talking to me now? Took you long enough."
"Who are you… exactly? How do you know Kang Ha-joon is going to die? And what is happening to me right now? Tell me everything… everything I don't know…"
The Rainbow replied calmly,
"I told you before—I would show you three things. But one still remains. Don't you want to see it?"
"I don't want to see anything anymore… Just tell me everything."
The Rainbow already expected that.
Because the truth was—
The third thing hadn't even happened yet.
And by the laws of nature… what hasn't happened cannot be shown.
"I see. But don't you find it strange? Why did time suddenly stop for you?"
"If I knew that, I wouldn't be asking."
The Rainbow burst into a chilling laugh.
"Hahahahaha… So you're just like everyone else. Even when humans stand so close to death… they never realize it."
Anha's eyes widened.
"Wait… don't tell me…"
"I'm… dead?"
Everything suddenly made sense.
Why time had stopped.
Why nothing felt real.
"Haaa… now I understand everything… what a pathetic person I was…"
At that moment—
She had nothing left.
No thoughts. No desires.
Because there was nothing she could do anymore.
Now… everything was in the hands of the Rainbow.
And she finally understood—
The Rainbow was the someone who related to god of death.
"I wanted to show you three things, remember?"
"I don't want to see anything anymore. It'll only bring me more regret."
"Oh no… humans may be selfish, but we—messengers of death—are not."
The Rainbow paused, then continued,
"What if… you had a chance? To meet Kang Ha-joon again… or even save him?"
Anha replied calmly,
"My thoughts are only about Kang Ha-joon. But I'm already dead. We'll meet in the afterlife anyway… so what's the problem?"
"And even if I wanted to change everything… is that even possible?"
The Rainbow didn't answer directly.
Instead, it asked—
"What if… you were given a chance?"
Anha took a deep breath.
"If I had that chance… I would try to understand him. I would make his pain my own. I would find out why he kept everything to himself…"
Before she could say more—
The Rainbow disappeared.
This time, Anha didn't try to look for it.
Instead, she found Kang Ha-joon's grave.
She realized—
This was where her body would soon be brought… for burial.
Letting out a long sigh, she whispered,
"If I had known everything would end like this… I would have chosen differently…"
Her eyes slowly closed.
Her body lay still… in that unfamiliar cemetery.
And then—
She woke up.
Anha noticed something strange.
She was lying in her old room—the one from her school days.
In the distance…
She saw her own body.
Sleeping.
"…Then whose body am I in?"
Her mind stopped working.
Nothing made sense anymore.
And just then—
The Rainbow appeared again.
With a playful tone, it said—
"Surprise…"
