We stood back in the Nexus, the sweet scent of flowers and sugar slowly fading away. I carefully placed the Gem of Aesthetics into my bag, feeling elegant and powerful.
"That was... so beautiful," Aiko said, twirling around and laughing. "I feel like I just walked out of a fairy tale. My heart is full of warmth."
"Right?" I grinned, adjusting my camera. "But you know what? After all that softness and romance... I feel like seeing something modern. Something bright and fast-paced!"
Hana meowed loudly, flicking her tail. She was always ready for the next adventure.
I looked out at the infinite sea of doors floating in the starry void. We had seen forests, deserts, libraries, games, candy worlds... my eyes suddenly stopped at one that looked incredibly futuristic and cool.
It wasn't made of wood, stone, or anything natural. It was made of dark glass, chrome, and glowing energy lines. It looked exactly like a high-tech elevator door or the entrance to a spaceship. Neon lights in blue, purple, and pink pulsed rhythmically on its surface, and it hummed with a sound like electricity and bass music.
"That one!" I pointed, running towards it. "It feels... fast. Advanced. Cool."
"Cyberpunk world?" Aiko guessed, her eyes lighting up. "Oh yes! Flying cars? Hoverboards? Let's go!"

I reached out and placed my hand on the sensor.

The door slid open silently with a cool sound effect.
The moment we stepped through, the scenery changed completely.
We weren't standing on ground anymore. We were standing on a transparent walkway high up in the air.
And below us, around us, everywhere... was a city that stretched up into the stars.
Massive skyscrapers made of glass and steel pierced through the clouds, covered in millions of lights and holographic advertisements. Flying cars and trains zipped through the air leaving trails of light. The sky was dark, filled with artificial moons and constellations of satellites. The whole world was glowing, buzzing with energy, and moving at the speed of light.
"WHOA!" I shouted, looking down at the amazing view. "Minna-san! Look at this! We are literally in a sci-fi movie! This is the most advanced place ever!"

"This realm is called Novus, the City of Eternal Dawn," I read the information flowing into my mind. "It says here that this world values progress, speed, technology, and innovation. They believe that moving forward is the meaning of life. And nothing ever stops here."
"That is so cool!" Aiko said, watching a holographic advertisement float by that was selling "instant happiness drinks".
We started walking along the sky bridge. It was amazing. The people here wore stylish, futuristic clothes, and everyone looked busy but happy. They walked with purpose, creating new things, inventing, trading, connecting.
Hana was being very careful, walking softly beside me. She tried to bat at a floating hologram fish, but her paw went right through it, making her confused.

And the people... they started to change.
They weren't walking freely anymore. They were marching. In perfect sync. Step. Step. Step.
Their eyes were glowing white. They had no expression. No smile. No emotion.
Speed. Efficiency. Progress.
No stopping. No feeling.
"No..." I whispered, gripping the Primordial Emblem. "What happened to them? They look like robots."
Suddenly, the ground shook. And from the top of the tallest tower, a figure descended slowly.
It was a man wearing a white suit that looked like it was made of pure light and data. He had short hair and eyes that were just blank screens. He floated in the air, looking down at us with zero emotion.
"I am... Maximum Velocity," his voice echoed, sounding like a computerized announcement. "And this city... is perfect. We run at 1000% speed. We work. We produce. We evolve. We do not waste time."
"What?!" I stepped forward. "But what about rest? What about fun? What about talking to friends? You guys are just machines now!"
"Rest is delay," Velocity said flatly. "Emotion is error. Friendship is variable. Variables are inefficient. I have removed them all."
He raised his hand, and the entire city sped up. The lights blurred into streaks. The sounds turned into a high-pitched whine.
"Everything must go faster! Faster! FASTER! Until we reach the end of time!"

The battle began.
This was the fastest battle ever.
Velocity moved so fast he was invisible. He appeared behind us, then in front, then above, attacking from all directions at once.
ZIP! ZOOM! CLANG!
I could barely see him! I had to react purely on instinct!
"He's too fast!" I yelled, blocking a punch that shattered the air itself. "Aiko, can you track him?!"
"Barely!" Aiko shouted, firing wildly but missing every time because he moved before the bullets even left the barrel. "He is cheating time itself!"
Velocity laughed, or at least made a sound like laughing. "You are slow! You are weak! You are stuck in the mud of the past!"
He created a field of energy around us that made time accelerate. Inside the field, seconds felt like hours. We were getting tired, old, slow just by standing there!
"We can't keep this up!" I panted, my movements getting heavy. "He is draining us!"

I stood up straight. I opened my eyes. They were glowing with calm, deep blue light.
"You want speed?" I shouted. "Then let me show you... TRUE SPEED!"
I took out the Gem of Eternity and the Gem of Network. I combined them.
STOP.
Suddenly, everything froze.
The flying cars stopped in mid-air. The lights stopped flickering. Even the wind stopped blowing.
Only I was moving.

I walked through the frozen world, step by step, right up to Velocity who was frozen in his attacking pose.

I touched his chest.

I released the time stop, but I didn't make it fast. I made it... NORMAL.
"WHAT?!" Velocity screamed as the world returned to normal speed. He tried to move, but suddenly he felt heavy. "Why... why am I slow?!"
"Because you were running so fast you forgot how to walk!" I shouted, floating up to face him. "You don't need to rush! The destination is right here! Right now!"
I gathered all my power. I didn't make a beam. I made a rhythm.

The sound of a heartbeat. Slow. Steady. Strong.
"THIS IS THE PACE OF LIFE!" I roared.
I pushed my hands forward, releasing a wave of calm, steady blue energy. It washed over the entire city.
The harsh white lights turned into warm, relaxing neon colors again. The rushing wind turned into cool breeze. The marching people stopped, blinked their eyes, and smiled again. The city was still advanced and futuristic, but now it was peaceful and happy.
Velocity fell down from the sky, landing softly on his feet. His white suit turned into a cool, casual jacket. his blank eyes turned into normal, bright eyes.
"I..." he looked at his hands, then at the beautiful city around him. "I can... see the stars now. I was running so fast I didn't even look up."
He looked at me and smiled sheepishly. "I guess... sometimes slow is better. Thanks, Guardian."
The entire realm was saved.
The city was alive again, buzzing with energy but not stress. It was the perfect balance of progress and peace.
From the top of the tower, the Core Crystal floated down. It was shaped like a microchip and a star combined, glowing with infinite potential.
'The Core of Progress,' the voice echoed. 'With this, you can learn anything instantly, adapt to any situation, and move forward without fear.'
I took the gem. It felt smart, fast, and reliable.
"Hey," Velocity said, walking up to us and holding out three shiny discs. "As an apology, take these. They are hoverboard licenses. You can fly anywhere you want now."
"YES!" Aiko cheered.

"That," Aiko said, leaning against her hoverboard happily. "Was so much fun. I love the future."
"Right?" I laughed, putting the Core of Progress away. "We can do anything now. We can go anywhere."
I looked at the camera.
"Minna-san, we saved the Future City! And we are stronger than ever! There are still so many doors waiting!"
"Let's keep going! To infinity and beyond!"
