Raina shifted in the water, trying to find her bearings. The darkness around her was so complete that she could no longer tell which way was up or down, and the only thing she could think about was Ethan.
Where was he?
"Ethan?"
Her voice disappeared into the darkness.
She tried to swim forward, but something suddenly caught in her throat. She gasped, and water rushed into her mouth. Raina choked and kicked desperately, trying to find the surface, but she had lost all sense of direction.
Then she saw a light.
It was faint at first, barely visible through the darkness, but it was there.
Raina forced herself toward it, pushing through the water as she tried to reach the surface. The light grew brighter with every stroke, and she reached for it desperately.
She was almost there when a massive shape suddenly dropped into the water above her.
