Chapter 32: The Truth Behind the Accident
Silence filled the room.
Lina's fingers tightened around her phone.
"What… do you mean?" she asked softly.
Daniel's voice sounded tense.
"I checked something after the party. Emily slipped earlier… she mentioned your accident before you brought it up."
Adrian's expression turned cold.
Daniel continued.
"So I looked deeper."
Lina's heart began to race.
"What did you find?"
Daniel hesitated.
"Emily… was near the accident site that day."
Lina's eyes widened.
"What?"
Adrian stepped closer.
"How do you know?"
Daniel answered quietly.
"I checked traffic camera records. Her car passed that road ten minutes before your accident."
Lina's breathing became uneven.
"But… that doesn't mean…"
Daniel interrupted softly.
"There's more."
The air became heavy.
"She also called someone… right before the accident."
Adrian's eyes darkened.
"Who?"
Daniel spoke slowly.
"I don't know yet… but it looked suspicious."
Lina felt a chill run down her spine.
"Why would she…"
Daniel's voice lowered.
"I don't know… but Lina… be careful."
Lina swallowed.
"Okay…"
They ended the call.
Silence filled the living room.
Adrian looked serious.
"This isn't good."
Lina nodded slowly.
"You think… she really—"
"I don't know yet," Adrian interrupted.
"But we should be careful."
Sophia leaned against the stairs.
Her expression thoughtful.
"Emily… huh."
Lina looked at her.
"You know something?"
Sophia shrugged.
"I just don't trust her."
Adrian glanced at Sophia.
"You knew her before?"
Sophia hesitated.
"Not well… but I've heard things."
"What things?"
Sophia looked slightly serious.
"She's… ambitious."
Lina frowned slightly.
"Ambitious?"
Sophia nodded.
"She always gets what she wants."
Adrian's eyes narrowed.
"And what does she want now?"
Sophia looked toward Lina quietly.
"Maybe… Daniel."
Lina remained silent.
But something didn't feel right.
Not at all.
—
Later that night…
Lina lay in bed.
Her mind restless.
Emily.
The accident.
Daniel's warning.
Everything felt strange.
She turned slightly.
Then suddenly—
Another memory flashed.
A road.
Rain.
Bright headlights.
A black car following her.
Her breathing quickened.
She sat up suddenly.
Her heart raced.
The memory disappeared quickly.
But she remembered one thing.
The black car.
Her hands trembled slightly.
Was that… before the accident?
She wasn't sure.
She stood up slowly.
Then walked toward her door.
She knocked softly.
"Adrian…"
The door opened quickly.
He looked worried.
"What's wrong?"
"I remembered something."
His expression turned serious.
"What?"
She whispered softly.
"A black car…"
Adrian froze slightly.
"Black car?"
She nodded.
"I think… someone was following me."
His eyes darkened instantly.
"Are you sure?"
"I… I don't know…"
Her voice trembled.
"But it felt real."
Adrian clenched his jaw.
"If that's true…"
Then suddenly—
His phone rang.
He glanced at the screen.
Unknown number.
He answered.
"Hello?"
A calm female voice answered.
"Adrian."
His expression hardened instantly.
"Emily."
Lina looked shocked.
Emily spoke calmly.
"I heard you're investigating me."
Adrian's eyes narrowed.
"What do you want?"
She chuckled softly.
"Just a warning."
The air turned cold.
"Stay out of things that don't concern you."
Adrian's voice became cold.
"And if I don't?"
Emily's voice softened.
"Then… you might lose something important."
Lina's heart skipped.
Adrian's expression turned dangerous.
"Are you threatening me?"
Emily chuckled softly.
"Good night, Adrian."
The call ended.
Silence filled the room.
Lina looked worried.
"What did she say?"
Adrian clenched his phone.
"She warned us."
Lina felt uneasy.
"This is getting scary…"
Adrian stepped closer.
"Don't worry."
She looked at him.
"I won't let anything happen to you."
Her heart warmed slightly.
But fear still lingered.
Because things were no longer simple.
Someone was hiding secrets.
And the truth behind the accident…
Was far more dangerous than they imagined.
—
Meanwhile…
In a dark parking lot…
Emily sat inside her car.
Her lips curved slowly.
"They're getting close…"
She whispered softly.
Her eyes turned cold.
"But not close enough."
She started the engine.
Her smile faded.
Because she knew—
The past she buried…
Was about to resurface.
And when it did—
Everything would change.
