Chapter 38 - Title: “The Day I Almost Lost Him… And Realized His True Worth (Part 4)”

Sometimes…

Life doesn't warn you before it changes everything.

It was a normal day.

At least… it started that way.

Mira woke up early, just like she had been doing lately. She prepared breakfast, cleaned the house, and waited for Arif to wake up.

Everything felt peaceful.

Safe.

Like nothing could go wrong.

"Arif, wake up… you'll be late," she said softly, shaking him a little.

No response.

She frowned slightly.

"Arif?"

Still nothing.

A strange feeling crept into her chest.

She shook him again.

This time a little harder.

"Arif! Wake up!"

His eyes opened slowly.

But something was off.

His face looked pale.

His breathing… heavy.

"Mira…" he whispered weakly.

"I'm not feeling well…"

Her heart dropped.

"What happened? Are you okay?"

He tried to sit up… but couldn't.

That was the moment panic hit her.

"Arif! Don't scare me… please!"

Without wasting another second, she grabbed her phone and called for help. Her hands were shaking so badly that she almost dropped it.

Minutes felt like hours.

At the hospital…

Everything became a blur.

Doctors.

Nurses.

Machines.

Mira stood outside the room, her hands cold, her heart racing uncontrollably.

"What if something happens to him…?"

The thought alone made her feel like she couldn't breathe.

Tears streamed down her face.

"I can't lose him… not now… not like this…"

All the memories came rushing back.

Their fights.

Her harsh words.

His silence.

His patience.

His love.

And suddenly…

Nothing else mattered.

Not the arguments.

Not the mistakes.

Not the past.

Only him.

After what felt like forever, a doctor finally came out.

Mira rushed forward.

"How is he? Is he okay?"

The doctor looked at her calmly.

"He's stable now. It was severe exhaustion and stress. His body just gave up for a while."

Mira felt her knees weaken.

"Can I see him?"

"Just for a few minutes."

She entered the room slowly.

Arif was lying on the bed, eyes closed, connected to machines.

He looked… fragile.

So different from the man who always stood strong for her.

Her heart broke.

She walked closer and gently held his hand.

It felt warm.

Alive.

Tears fell again.

"I'm so sorry…" she whispered.

"For everything… for every time I hurt you… for every time I didn't understand you…"

Her voice trembled.

"You always took care of me… but I never realized how much you were carrying alone…"

She lowered her head, holding his hand tightly.

"Just come back to me… please…"

At that moment…

She felt a slight movement.

Her eyes lifted quickly.

Arif's fingers… moved.

"Mira…" he whispered weakly.

Her heart stopped.

Then raced again.

"I'm here! I'm here…" she said, her voice breaking.

He opened his eyes slowly.

And looked at her.

Even in that weak state…

He smiled.

"Why are you crying?" he asked softly.

Mira let out a broken laugh.

"Because you scared me…"

He squeezed her hand gently.

"I'm okay…"

She shook her head.

"No… you're not okay. And I didn't even notice…"

Arif looked at her quietly.

"You always take care of me… but who takes care of you?" she asked, her voice filled with guilt.

He didn't answer.

Because the truth was obvious.

Mira wiped her tears.

"From now on… I will," she said firmly.

There was something different in her voice.

Not just emotion.

A promise.

Real.

Deep.

Unbreakable.

Arif looked at her… and for the first time…

He saw something he had always hoped for.

Not just love.

But understanding.

Days later…

When Arif returned home, everything felt different again.

But this time…

In a deeper way.

Mira didn't just love him.

She cared for him.

Watched him.

Understood him.

Not out of fear.

But out of realization.

Because sometimes…

You don't understand someone's value until you almost lose them.

One evening, as they sat together quietly, Mira leaned on his shoulder.

"I was so scared that day," she said softly.

Arif smiled slightly.

"I'm still here."

She looked at him.

"And I'll never take that for granted again."

He wrapped his arm around her gently.

"Then that day… wasn't just a bad day," he said.

"It was a lesson."

Mira nodded.

"Yes…"

A lesson she would never forget.

Because love isn't just about saying "I love you."

It's about showing it.

Caring.

Understanding.

Being there…

Before it's too late.

And this time…

Mira was ready.

Ready to love him the way he always deserved.,
