Chapter 38 - THE MOMENT POWER AWAKENS, THE WAR ANSWERS

The battlefield roared.

Not with chaos—

But with intent.

Demons flooded the academy grounds in waves that moved with coordination rather than instinct, their formations tightening and spreading like a living system designed to overwhelm anything that resisted.

Christy stood beside Luxe, her gaze scanning the battlefield with precision.

"…This isn't just overwhelming in terms of numbers," she said, her voice controlled but edged with urgency. "The way these units are positioned and deployed suggests a level of strategic planning that goes far beyond simple invasion tactics. Every group has a role, every movement serves a purpose, and every second we hesitate gives them more control over the situation."

Luxe didn't respond immediately.

Because something else—

Was happening.

A sharp pulse ran through his body.

Not pain.

Not instability.

Something deeper.

"…Luxe?" Christy called, her tone shifting slightly as she noticed the subtle change in his expression. "Your mana… it's fluctuating in a way that doesn't match external interference. This isn't coming from the battlefield—it's coming from you."

Luxe closed his eyes briefly.

"…I can feel it," he said quietly. "It's not unstable, and it's not being disrupted. It's… expanding, but not in a way that follows the normal progression I'm used to controlling."

Christy stepped closer.

"…Then don't ignore it," she said. "If your body is reacting like this in the middle of a battle, it means something is trying to change. Suppressing it could make things worse instead of stabilizing them."

Lumi's voice followed, analytical and precise.

"…The mana density within your core is increasing beyond the threshold of the Third Circle," she said. "This suggests the beginning of a breakthrough process. However, attempting to complete this under active combat conditions carries significant risk."

Luxe exhaled slowly.

"…Standing still carries more risk," he said. "If I don't move forward now, I'll fall behind what's already happening."

Christy met his gaze.

"…Then don't try to control it perfectly," she said. "Just guide it enough to keep it from breaking you. You've done this before—you don't need ideal conditions to move forward."

Luxe opened his eyes.

"…You trust me to handle this in the middle of a war?" he asked.

Christy didn't hesitate.

"…I trust you more when you're pushed into situations like this," she said. "Because that's when you stop holding back and start becoming what you're actually capable of."

"…KYUU…!"

Sylvia surged forward—

Her presence aligning with his.

The pressure—

Collapsed inward.

Then expanded.

Lightning flickered—

But didn't explode.

It stabilized.

Luxe's voice dropped slightly.

"…So this is what it feels like," he said. "Not more power… but more control over how that power exists."

Christy's eyes widened slightly.

"…Your mana flow just stabilized completely," she said. "Not just increased—refined. That's not a surge, that's a transformation."

Lumi confirmed—

"…Fourth Mana Circle confirmed," she said. "Efficiency has increased significantly. Output loss reduced. Stability approaching optimal conditions."

Luxe stepped forward.

"…Then we move," he said.

The next wave came—

Faster.

Stronger.

A swarm of demons rushed forward—

Luxe raised his hand—

"PLASMA BURST"

Lightning fused with fire—

Exploding outward in controlled destruction.

Entire groups vanished instantly.

Christy's voice sharpened.

"…That wasn't just a stronger attack," she said. "You changed the composition mid-cast without destabilizing the output. That level of elemental fusion requires precision that shouldn't be possible immediately after a breakthrough."

Luxe didn't slow.

"…It's easier now," he said. "Before, I was forcing control. Now the system responds naturally."

"THUNDER TIDE"

Water surged—

Lightning spread through it—

Paralyzing enemies across a wide area.

Christy moved beside him.

"…You're not switching elements at all," she said. "You're integrating them as if they were always meant to work together, which completely changes how your combat flow operates."

Luxe nodded.

"…Because they were never separate to begin with," he said.

"FROZEN THUNDER CAGE"

Ice formed—

Lightning locked it—

Enemies frozen and immobilized instantly.

Christy exhaled slowly.

"…You've been holding this level of understanding back," she said. "Not just power, but knowledge of how these elements interact."

Luxe replied calmly.

"…Not everything needs to be revealed early," he said. "Especially when understanding the enemy matters more than showing everything you can do."

"…So that's what you were hiding."

Kael's voice cut through the battlefield.

He stepped forward—

His presence heavier than before.

"…A breakthrough during combat," Kael said, observing carefully. "And immediately afterward, you demonstrate multi-element integration with no instability or delay. That's not natural progression—that's something far more deliberate."

Luxe faced him.

"…Then stop trying to categorize it," he said. "And deal with it as it is."

Kael moved first—

Faster than before—

Luxe responded instantly.

"Thunder Step."

Then—

"STORM BREAKER EXECUTION"

Three elements combined—

Striking with overwhelming speed.

Kael blocked—

But was pushed back.

"…So it's not limited to two," Kael said. "You're using multiple elements simultaneously without any degradation in control. That means this isn't adaptation—it's something you already understood before reaching this stage."

Luxe's voice remained calm.

"…Understanding doesn't mean weakness," he said. "It just means I don't need to struggle to use what I already know."

Kael's gaze sharpened.

"…No," he said slowly. "This isn't just understanding. This is information that you shouldn't have access to yet. The way you're combining elemental systems, the way your mana stabilizes after a breakthrough… it's as if you've already experienced this before."

Silence.

Christy looked at Luxe—

But said nothing.

Kael stepped closer.

"…You're hiding something," he said. "Not just power, but knowledge that doesn't belong to your current stage of growth. And that makes you far more dangerous than I initially assumed."

Luxe's response was cold.

"…Then adjust your assumptions," he said.

"…KYUU…!!"

Sylvia surged—

Her energy merging—

Amplifying everything.

Christy spoke quickly.

"…Their synchronization is increasing in real time," she said. "That means the longer this fight continues, the stronger his output becomes. We need to maintain pressure so Kael doesn't regain full control."

Luxe moved—

"ABSOLUTE THUNDER FIELD"

Multiple elements—

Controlled perfectly.

Kael blocked—

But slid back.

Silence fell—

For a moment.

Kael smiled faintly.

"…You've crossed a line," he said. "Not just in power, but in what you represent. If what I'm seeing is even partially true, then you're not just a variable… you're a disruption to the entire system."

Luxe didn't respond.

Kael stepped back.

"…This war just became far more interesting," he said.

And vanished.

The battlefield slowed—

Slightly.

Christy exhaled.

"…That wasn't just a breakthrough," she said. "That was a shift in everything."

Luxe looked at his hand—

"…It's only the beginning," he said.

Christy stepped closer.

"…Then we move forward together," she said.

Luxe nodded.

"…We do," he said.

Sylvia chirped—

"…Kyuu…"

And as the war continued—

The balance had already changed.
