Chapter 4 - A Minotaur

Cain looked at the creature before him with a grin on his face, one that even surprised him.

Yes, he played a lot of violent games, but that didn't mean he was a violent person, so where did all this excitement come from?

[Sun Wukong: Finally! A strong one, don't disappoint this great sage!]

Cain looked at the chat at the side of his vision before chuckling and resting the staff on his shoulder.

He then looked towards his attacker.

Standing just a short distance away was a massive humanoid creature, easily over ten feet tall, with the head of a bull.

A minotaur.

It had grey fur covering its entire body but that wasn't what Cain was focused on.

Instead, his eyes were on the armor that the creature wore. On its neck was a necklace made of large fangs, it also had a metallic shoulder armor, held in place by belts.

Which meant that the beast had some sort of intelligence.... probably.

Behind it, multiple different monsters stood, seemingly waiting for its command to attack.

"Let's even the playing field, shall we," Cain said with a smile and plucked a few strands of his hair.

The moment he let them go, they took forms identical to him, each with their version of Ruyi Jingu Bang in hand.

The clones landed next to him, mirroring the grin on his face as they waited for the monsters to make their move first.

The bull monster lifted its hand and pointed at the original Cain before opening its mouth and to his surprise, it spoke,

"Ήδομαι διασπων σε εíς μέρη, καὶ περιθήσομαι τὸ κρανίον σου ως åλύσεις."

"..."

Cain understood not a single word of what was said, but it definitely didn't sound friendly.

"Έφοδος!" the Minotaur let out again and soon after, the monsters behind it rushed towards their target,

Cain.

Without his command, his clones also made their moves, clashing with the monsters in the center, leaving only the original and the Minotaur staring at each other.

The next second,

BOOM!

They both disappeared, leaving a crater in their wake before they clashed, and clashed in the center creating a shockwave that blasted away most of the weaker monsters around them.

Both Cain and the Minotaur were launched backwards again, their feet, carving a little trench in the ground.

The monster looked at him for a second before lifting its hand to the side and the next second, a large hammer appeared in its hand.

And without hesitation, the Minotaur rushed towards Cain, lifting the hammer high and slamming it towards him.

Fortunately, he was quick enough to lift his staff and intercept the attack, causing sparks to fly at the point of impact.

"Heavy," he muttered, as he felt his knees slightly buckle.

The Minotaur pushed down harder, roaring as it tried to overpower him, its strength monstrous even in Cain's powered-up state.

Unfortunately for it though, Cain had no intention to contest it in strength, so instead he muttered, "grow."

The moment the words left his mouth, Ruyi Jingu Bang suddenly expanded, its length and thickness increasing in an instant.

The sudden change threw off the Minotaur's balance, its weapon slipping to the side, and that was all Cain needed.

Changing the staff's size again, he spun it before slamming it into the monster's side, lifting it off its hooves and launching it into a building.

The building immediately collapsed, completely burying the creature and raising a cloud of dust.

But that did nothing to it as it just easily moved the rubble to the side and stood up.

The Minotaur snorted, a visible puff of air escaping its nostrils as it got out of the rubble and turned towards its opponent about to roar again, only to pause.

Standing where Cain previously was the bat-like monster, looked directly at the Minotaur with a bit of confusion.

"..." The Minotaur was also confused for a second.

But the next, the bat suddenly lifted its wings and pointed in the opposite direction.

"Boss," it started, "the human went that way."

The monster looked in the direction that the bat pointed to, and sure enough, Cain was running a distance away.

Roar!!

The Minotaur let out as it launched itself in the direction of the running Cain and before he had the chance to react,

BOOM!

A large crater was formed where the hammer landed, crushing Cain completely.

The Minotaur, satisfied that its attack had finally landed on this pest, slowly lifted its weapon ready to see the aftermath.

But unlike what he expected, lying in the crater was not the bug's crushed form, instead, there was only a single strand of hair.

That's when the Minotaur realized something important.... Lesser monsters couldn't speak,

Which meant.

It quickly turned around, only to find the bat was completely gone, but the next second,

"Head's up," a voice came from above it, forcing it to look up.

Descending, with a massive golden glowing staff held between its wings, was the same bat monster from before.

The Minotaur wasn't allowed enough time to lift its weapon to block as the next second,

BOOM!

The staff slammed into the monster, completely enveloping it and getting multiple times bigger, increasing in weight.

The bat, previously hanging on a part of the staff suddenly let go of it and landed on the ground,

The moment it did, a glow wrapped around it as it suddenly grew larger and took on a humanoid form.

The glow faded to reveal Cain who had a large grin on his face as he looked at the large staff before him.

"That was fun," he muttered with a chuckle.

[Sun Wukong: …] the chat screen popped up at the side of his vision.

"What?" he asked as he looked at the chat screen.

[Sun Wukong has donated 500 Stream Points!]

[Current Balance: 1000 SP]

[Sun Wukong: Hahaha, this great sage is entertained mortal.]

Cain was a bit worried that his only viewer would see his last attack as an underhanded move.

But he seemed to forget that this Sun Wukong was the same as the one in mythology, which meant it was also a trickster.

"Thank you for the donation, great sage," he said with a grin, but the next second, the system's interface popped up again.

[Time Remaining: 00:00:05]

"Huh?" He let out in surprise as the golden glow around him started fading and so did the wave of power within.

[Sun Wukong: until next time mortal....I was truly entertained.]

Cain could barely make out the text on the chat screen as his vision started blurring and the last thing he heard before passing out was,

[Awakening phase completed.]

[Gate stabilization in progress.]

[System distribution complete.]

[Beginning rank assignment.]

[Safe zones established.]

And with that, everything faded to black.
