"Scared?" Cole asked, patting her on the back.
'He really would be terrifying if he were controlled.'
But Josie Quinn wouldn't admit it. "What's there to be afraid of? I already transformed. She can't find me."
Cole chuckled softly. "Yes, your superpower is quite impressive. In the future, if you run into another unpredictable situation like this, just hide yourself well. We can figure out the rest later."
"Let go of me first," she said, patting the back of his hand to signal him to release her.
Beneath his palm lay the exposed, delicate skin of her waist. The soft sensation made him hesitate, but he slowly released her nonetheless.
"I've been out for several days, so I plan on returning to the safe zone today. Since you're okay now, I'll say my goodbyes here."
"You're going back now?" Cole's brows knitted together, casting a shadow over the bridge of his high nose.
"Yes. I've been out for several days. It's time to go back."
