Lucas Lockwood's brow smoothed, and the corners of his lips curled into a bright smile, like a ray of sunshine breaking through a sky thick with dark clouds.
"Josie Quinn, get your ass back here!"
Chester Quinn's furious roar echoed along the rugged mountain path, but as they continued their climb, the sound was gradually carried away by the mountain wind until it vanished completely.
The steep mountain path left everyone utterly exhausted.
Although Felix Fields and Lucas Lockwood carried the bulk of the supplies, the others' hands weren't empty either.
After several hours of nonstop trekking, everyone's stamina was nearing its limit. No one even had the energy to speak; only the sound of heavy, ragged breathing rose and fell in the silent mountain forest.
"It's getting dark. We need to find a place to rest," Josie Quinn said, supporting her aching back. Her voice was so weak it sounded like it could give out at any moment.
