The driver in the front seat stared, his eyes wide with astonishment.
Liam Lanier also looked like he'd seen a ghost, his eyes darting back and forth over Olivia Wynne.
Having survived in the apocalypse for over a decade, Olivia Wynne's senses were exceptionally sharp. She was well aware that Liam Lanier was staring at her.
Thinking Liam Lanier had recognized her as a celebrity, Olivia Wynne looked at the red light ahead and said, "Sir, could you please let me out at the second traffic light?"
'This should be far enough. The reporters probably won't follow me here.'
The driver didn't answer, instead glancing back at the man in black.
Zachary Fairchild stared straight ahead, his expression serious. His voice was deep. "Let her out up ahead."
"Yes, sir."
Olivia Wynne glanced at the man beside her, and her heart skipped a few beats.
Olivia Wynne disliked the feeling of her heart racing uncontrollably, so she immediately turned to look out the window.
'I must have gotten into someone's private car. The man next to me isn't just incredibly handsome; he exudes an air of nobility, making him seem completely unapproachable.'
Once they passed the traffic light, Olivia Wynne put on her sunglasses and got out of the car immediately.
She quickly crossed the street and hailed a cab from the other side to leave.
The moment Olivia Wynne was out of the car, Liam Lanier immediately turned to Zachary Fairchild.
"Sir, should we go to the hospital?"
His boss couldn't be near women. Every time he was, he would either break out in a rash or start vomiting uncontrollably.
The man shot Liam Lanier a look with his sharp eyes, his voice as frigid as a winter pond. "You talk too much."
After speaking, the man turned to look out the window, his deep eyes inscrutable as he watched the beautiful figure hurrying away.
...
Olivia Wynne sat in the taxi, her face hidden behind sunglasses. The driver, a man in his forties or fifties, didn't recognize her.
Watching the buildings flash by, Olivia Wynne considered her options. 'Where should I stay?'
'There are people watching the company, and they're probably watching my place too. I can't go back to the apartment the company arranged.'
Lowering her gaze, Olivia Wynne took out her phone and dialed the number saved as the first contact by the body's original owner.
The phone rang for a long time before it was answered. A man's hoarse voice came from the other end. "Olivia, what's up?"
"Yeah, something came up. I can't stay at my current place anymore. Can I come stay with you?"
"Of course. I'll call the gate guard and tell him to let you in. The key is still in the usual spot," the man on the other end replied in a deep voice.
"Okay, thanks. I'm hanging up now."
Olivia Wynne's voice was a little quiet, and a heavy feeling settled in her chest.
Clutching her phone, Olivia Wynne looked at the driver and said, "Sir, to the Wynne Estate, please."
The driver glanced back at her and smiled. "You got it."
At the main gate of the Wynne Estate, Olivia Wynne got out of the car, greeted the guard, and started walking into the compound. About ten minutes later, she arrived at the Wynne family residence.
She retrieved the key from under a potted plant by the door and pushed her way inside.
Stepping inside, Olivia Wynne looked at the place that felt both familiar and strange, and a wave of relief washed over her. She tossed her bag onto the sofa and collapsed onto it herself.
'It's so much more reassuring to be in a familiar place. The original owner had lived here until she was eighteen. After entering the entertainment industry, she moved into the company apartment because this place was too far and the commute was inconvenient.'
Now that she was relaxed, Olivia Wynne realized she was hungry. She went to the kitchen, but the refrigerator was completely empty. There was nothing to eat.
She opened her phone and ordered takeout for three, then went back to lie down on the sofa.
She had just settled down when her phone rang. Olivia Wynne glanced at the screen before answering. "Uncle."
