The closet door slammed shut. Silas Thornton, burrowed in a pile of clothes, was as quiet as a mouse.
Holly Wyatt glanced back, her eyes fixed on Hugh Wyatt, who held a knife in one hand and the broken lock in the other. She was silently thankful she had just hidden Silas.
Hugh's dark eyes swept across Holly's room, finally landing on the wide-open window. "Sis, did someone climb in through the window?"
The moment he spoke, Holly's heart skipped a beat. She subtly edged closer to the closet, shaking her head repeatedly in denial.
Hugh looked at her suspiciously, the wary expression on his face not fading. "Then why didn't you open the door for so long? I thought something happened to you."
She bit her lower lip, signing rapidly, "I accidentally fell asleep. I didn't see you."
Hugh glanced at the light, which was on, then his gaze shifted to the desk. A bowl of noodles was still half-eaten, the chopsticks tossed messily on the tabletop.
