Stella Sterling's eyes filled with gratitude. "Thank you, Mr. Rhodes. I'm sorry to trouble you."
'Another favor I owe him.'
'Jude's name really opens doors.'
Before long, they both got into the car.
Brandon Coleman had just finished a call and turned to report, "Mr. Rhodes, they haven't closed the Vesper-Zane Bridge yet. The weather forecast says the rain might let up around five this afternoon."
The man instructed, "To the restaurant first."
As the car drove out of the underground garage, dense, wind-driven rain hammered against the windows.
Only then did Stella Sterling realize the downpour was even heavier than she'd thought. The streets were nearly devoid of pedestrians.
As they drove away from her apartment complex, some low-lying areas were already starting to flood.
The temperature inside the car was comfortable, yet Stella Sterling sat with her arms crossed, clutching her trench coat tightly.
Roman Rhodes's brow furrowed slightly. "Are you cold?"
