Tristan Sterling was dumbfounded.
He stammered, trying to explain, "Er, well... you said you were cold..."
"If I'm cold, you get me another blanket! What are you doing in my bed?"
His explanation emboldened her, and she snapped back irritably.
'Right. If he hadn't gotten into bed, I wouldn't have snuggled up to him.'
'If I hadn't snuggled up to him, I wouldn't have forced a kiss on him...'
'Yes!'
'It's all his fault!!'
"Because you always used to snuggle up to me when you were cold..."
"You said it yourself—*used to*!"
"But you clearly enjoyed it..." he muttered, almost inaudibly.
She heard him.
"What did you say?" She flew into a rage out of embarrassment, her almond eyes wide like a ruffled lion cub's.
'How dare he talk back?!'
'What was their relationship back then?'
'And what is it now?'
'Can the present even be compared to the past?'
'He took advantage of her while her mind was foggy and now he thinks he's in the right?'
