He thought he heard a phone vibrating.
"What's wrong?" Megan asked, startled.
Brandon didn't say a word, taking two long strides down to the floor below.
No one was there.
He pushed the door open and looked again. There was no one in the long hallway.
A minute later, Brandon returned to Megan's side, frowning.
"Did you hear anything?" he asked.
"No," Megan said, shaking her head blankly.
"Then I must have misheard," Brandon said, slightly relieved.
'It was unlikely anyone would come to a dark place like the stairwell.'
'Yes, I must be getting paranoid.'
