Chapter 16 - Chapter 16: The Truth They Hide

The room didn't feel safe anymore.

Not after what they said.

Not after what Kael heard.

"Legends."

"World Government."

"Hunted."

The words echoed in his head, refusing to settle.

"…Start from the beginning," Kael said, his voice calmer now… but heavier.

The tall man stood near the window, arms crossed.

Silent for a moment.

Thinking.

Choosing his words.

"…There was a time," he began slowly,

"…when this world wasn't ruled by fear."

The young guy sat on the table, swinging his legs.

"…Here we go again," he muttered.

"…Shut up," the tall man replied without looking at him.

Kael stayed silent.

Listening.

"…People like us existed openly," the tall man continued.

"…We weren't called 'Legends' back then."

A pause.

"…We were just… protectors."

💀

Kael frowned.

"…Protectors?"

"…Strong enough to keep balance," the blue-haired girl added quietly.

"…Strong enough to stop chaos before it spread."

Kael's eyes narrowed slightly.

"…And what changed?"

Silence.

Heavy.

The tall man's expression darkened.

"…They appeared."

💀

"…The World Government."

The name felt heavier this time.

Colder.

"…They didn't like balance," the young guy said, now serious.

"…They wanted control."

"…Absolute control," the tall man corrected.

Kael leaned forward slightly.

Ignoring the pain.

"…So they killed you?"

Silence.

"…They tried," the blue-haired girl replied.

💀

A faint tension filled the room.

"…War broke out," the tall man said.

"…Not one battle. Not one place."

"…Everywhere."

Kael imagined it.

Fires.

Destruction.

People like them fighting.

Dying.

"…And you lost," Kael said.

No one answered.

That was the answer.

💀

"…We disappeared," the tall man continued.

"…Or at least… that's what they believed."

Kael's eyes flickered.

"…But you're still here."

"…Barely," the young guy laughed dryly.

"…You're looking at what's left."

Silence.

Kael looked at them again.

Really looked this time.

Three people.

That's it.

💀

"…Only you?" he asked.

"…For now," the blue-haired girl said.

"…We're still searching," the tall man added.

"…Before they find the others."

💀

Kael exhaled slowly.

"…So I'm just another target."

"…No," the tall man said.

Kael looked up.

"…You're a problem."

💀

Silence.

"…What's that supposed to mean?" Kael asked coldly.

The tall man stepped closer.

"…Your awakening was violent."

"…Unstable."

"…Loud."

A pause.

"…They noticed."

💀

Kael clenched his fist.

"…That man…"

"…Was sent because of you," the blue-haired girl finished.

Silence.

Kael leaned back again.

Thinking.

"…So what now?" he asked.

"…You hide forever?"

"…No," the young guy grinned.

"…We get stronger."

"…We survive," the tall man corrected.

"…Same thing," he shrugged.

Kael stared at them.

Then—

"…And me?"

The tall man didn't hesitate.

"…You train."

💀

Kael frowned.

"…I can barely stand."

"…Exactly," the tall man said.

(Step.)

He moved closer.

"…You rely on raw power."

"…No control."

"…No discipline."

Kael's eyes sharpened.

"…And you think you can fix that?"

"…No," the tall man replied calmly.

A pause.

"…We will."

💀💀💀

Silence.

"…Tch…" Kael clicked his tongue.

"…Fine."

The young guy jumped down from the table.

"…LET'S GO!" he shouted excitedly.

"…You're not the one training him," the tall man said.

"…Aww…"

The blue-haired girl picked up her sword.

"…Come," she said simply.

Kael blinked.

"…Now?"

"…You don't have time to waste."

💀

Kael looked at his body.

Still injured.

Still weak.

Then at them.

Serious.

Ready.

"…Crazy people…" he muttered.

But he stood.

Slowly.

Painfully.

And followed.

💀

Outside…

The air was colder.

Wider.

The base hidden between cliffs.

Isolated.

"…This is where it starts," the tall man said.

Kael stepped forward.

"…Try not to die," the young guy added with a grin.

"…Shut up," Kael replied.

The blue-haired girl stopped in front of him.

"…Show me."

Kael frowned.

"…Show you what?"

Her eyes locked onto his.

"…How weak you really are."

💀

Silence.

Then—

Kael smiled.

Slightly.

"…You're gonna regret that."

💀💀💀

Far away…

Hidden in the shadows of the world…

A voice spoke.

"…We found traces."

"…Confirm."

"…A new Legend has awakened."

A pause.

"…Send more."

💀
