Chapter 67 - Chapter 67 – The Inheritance

Nobody breathed.

Not for a moment.

The sanctuary remained completely silent.

Only the soft blue lights reflected across the crimson cloth wrapped around the scroll.

Kushina stood before the pedestal.

Her hand hovered above it.

Not touching.

Not yet.

"…it's waiting…"

"…I know…"

"…take it…"

She hesitated.

For the first time in days—

the hesitation didn't come from fear.

It came from respect.

Daichi remained where he was.

He didn't step closer.

Didn't warn her.

Didn't stop her.

That alone surprised Kushina.

She glanced over her shoulder.

"You're not going to tell me to be careful?"

His expression remained calm.

"I don't think this place wants to hurt you."

"…that's unexpectedly comforting."

"…don't get used to it."

A faint smile crossed her face.

Small.

But real.

Slowly—

she reached forward.

Her fingertips brushed the crimson cloth.

Warm.

Not physically.

Something else.

Like old chakra still lingered inside it.

The moment she lifted the scroll—

the entire chamber pulsed.

Not violently.

Gently.

The blue lights brightened.

The stone beneath their feet hummed softly.

The sanctuary had accepted her.

Then—

the scroll opened by itself.

Not completely.

Only enough for ancient seal markings to become visible.

Rows upon rows of intricate formulas covered the paper.

Kushina frowned immediately.

"…I can't read this…"

Hana stepped closer.

"These aren't normal words."

Minato looked carefully at the seals.

"…they're written as chakra formulas."

Daichi nodded once.

"Only an Uzumaki could unlock them."

The scroll reacted again.

A tiny strand of Kushina's chakra drifted toward it without her meaning to.

The ink shimmered.

Ancient symbols shifted.

Rearranged.

Until—

the writing changed.

Now—

she could read it.

Her eyes widened.

"…how…"

Daichi answered quietly.

"It recognizes its owner."

At the top of the scroll—

only a single sentence appeared.

To the one who inherits our name…

Silence.

Kushina swallowed.

She kept reading.

Power alone never protected our clan.

Our bonds did.

A pause.

Never forget which one truly matters.

The words struck her harder than she expected.

The page turned on its own.

Another message appeared.

If this sanctuary has awakened…

Then the Uzumaki stand at the edge of extinction.

Silence filled the chamber.

Hana lowered her eyes.

Minato didn't move.

Daichi remained completely still.

Kushina continued reading.

This archive contains every sealing technique we could preserve.

Not to create stronger warriors.

But to create guardians.

"…guardians…"

The word echoed softly through the chamber.

It felt…

different.

Not conquest.

Not revenge.

Protection.

The scroll shifted once more.

New symbols appeared.

Complex.

Beautiful.

Alive.

Kushina stared at them.

Her head suddenly ached.

Not painfully.

Overwhelmingly.

Knowledge.

Too much knowledge.

Flowing directly into her mind.

Seal structures.

Barrier techniques.

Chains.

Formulas she had never learned—

yet somehow understood.

She gasped softly.

"…it's teaching me…"

Daichi stepped forward instinctively.

"Kushina?"

She held up one hand.

"…wait…"

The flow continued.

Not forcing.

Guiding.

Showing.

Then—

it stopped.

As suddenly as it had begun.

Kushina blinked several times.

Her breathing uneven.

"…I know these…"

She looked at her own hands.

"…I've never seen them before…"

"…and yet…"

"…I understand…"

Kurama's voice returned quietly.

"…interesting…"

Not mocking.

Simply observing.

Minato looked at her carefully.

"What happened?"

Kushina searched for the words.

"I…"

A pause.

"I didn't learn them."

Another.

"I remembered them."

Silence settled once more.

Daichi's expression changed.

Only slightly.

Recognition.

"…bloodline memory."

Hana looked at him.

"I thought those were only stories."

"So did I."

Before anyone could speak again—

another section of the scroll slowly revealed itself.

Unlike the others—

this one wasn't a technique.

It was a map.

Different from Akane's.

Older.

Far older.

One location at its center had been marked with a crimson spiral.

Beneath it—

only three words were written.

The First Seal.

Nobody spoke.

Kushina stared at the ancient map.

A strange feeling settled in her chest.

The sanctuary hadn't just given her answers.

It had given her a new destination.

And somewhere deep inside the mountain—

old seals continued to awaken.

As if the Uzumaki legacy itself had finally begun to breathe again.
