Chapter 66 - Chapter 66 – The Hidden Sanctuary

Nobody stepped inside immediately.

The doorway stood open before them.

Dark.

Silent.

Untouched.

Cold air drifted out from the passage, carrying the scent of old stone and something far older.

Dust.

Time.

Memory.

Kushina stared into the darkness.

"…this place…"

"…old…"

"…very old…"

She nodded almost unconsciously.

She could feel it.

Not danger.

Something else.

Like the mountain itself remembered.

Daichi was the first to move.

As always.

He stepped through the entrance without hesitation, one hand resting lightly near his kunai.

Minato followed close behind.

Hana hesitated for only a heartbeat before entering as well.

Kushina was the last.

The moment she crossed the threshold—

the stone door behind them closed.

Slowly.

With a deep rumble that echoed through the passage.

Darkness swallowed them.

For one brief second—

complete silence.

Then—

small lights flickered to life along the walls.

One after another.

Blue.

Soft.

Ancient seal lamps awakening.

Kushina blinked.

"…did we do that?"

Daichi looked around.

"No."

A pause.

"The sanctuary did."

The corridor stretched deeper into the mountain.

The walls were covered with faded carvings.

Spirals.

Seal formulas.

Names.

Hundreds of names.

Kushina slowed.

"…what are these?"

Hana stepped beside her.

"Families."

Another pause.

"Everyone who once lived here."

Kushina let her fingers hover over one of the carvings.

She didn't touch it.

Somehow—

it felt wrong to disturb them.

"…they're all gone…"

"…maybe…"

Kurama answered quietly.

"…or maybe not…"

That made her stop.

"…what do you mean?"

No answer.

Just silence.

After several minutes—

the corridor opened into an enormous chamber.

Kushina's breath caught.

The ceiling disappeared into darkness high above.

Stone pillars surrounded the room in perfect circles.

Old training grounds.

Storage rooms.

Living quarters carved directly into the mountain.

Everything was covered in dust.

But untouched.

Like everyone had simply…

left.

"…it's beautiful…"

Hana smiled sadly.

"It used to be."

Minato walked slowly through the chamber.

"There was an entire village here."

Daichi nodded.

"A hidden sanctuary."

"A last refuge."

Kushina turned slowly.

Trying to imagine it.

Children running through the halls.

People laughing.

Training.

Living.

It was difficult.

The silence was too complete.

Then—

a soft click echoed through the chamber.

Everyone froze.

Daichi turned immediately.

"What was that?"

Nobody answered.

Because nobody knew.

Another click.

Closer.

The blue lights along the walls brightened.

One after another.

Until the entire chamber glowed.

A deep voice echoed through the sanctuary.

Not loud.

Not threatening.

Simply…

present.

"Identity confirmed."

Silence.

Kushina's heart skipped.

"…what…"

The voice continued.

"Uzumaki bloodline detected."

Another pause.

"Primary heir recognized."

Kushina looked around.

"…primary heir?"

Hana looked just as confused.

Minato frowned.

Daichi's eyes narrowed.

None of them had expected this.

The floor beneath the center of the chamber began to move.

Stone shifted.

Ancient mechanisms groaned back to life after decades of silence.

A circular platform slowly rose from beneath the floor.

Resting upon it—

was a single stone pedestal.

And on top of it—

a scroll.

Wrapped in deep crimson cloth.

Perfectly preserved.

As though no time had passed at all.

Nobody moved.

The sanctuary remained silent.

Waiting.

The voice spoke one final time.

"Welcome home… Kushina Uzumaki."

Silence filled the chamber.

Kushina stood frozen.

Home.

No one had ever called a place that before.

Not since everything had begun.

Slowly—

she stepped toward the pedestal.

Not because she understood.

Because somehow—

it felt like the sanctuary had been waiting.

Not for an Uzumaki.

For her.
