Chapter 87 - Something on Her Mind

"Do you have a specific place in mind that you want to go to?" Gale did not spend much time within the walls of Sina, so he lacked specific knowledge to use on this date.

"No! But this is like taking a walk in front of our house, so why overthink it? Let's start by eating something, and then we can walk around and do some sightseeing." Historia said with a smile as she noticed that no one recognized her.

"Well, that works." Gale seemed to feel that Historia's words made sense.

Agreeing, Gale walked alongside Historia.

After passing through the last checkpoint, it didn't take long before they found themselves in the middle of a bustling and lively scene.

After walking a bit more, the two of them entered a quiet and relatively empty main street.

It wasn't that the street was in a bad area—on the contrary, it seemed to be in a high-end district.

The people walking along the street were dressed in expensive-looking clothes, the carriages passing by were luxurious, and the buildings on both sides of the street were tall and imposing.

"Looks expensive."

"It's fine. I didn't plan on asking my fiancé to pay anyway—I have a lot of money now. Besides, the place we're going to is run by your family, so as long as I'm with you, everything will be free." Historia couldn't stop smiling as she glanced at Gale.

"I didn't plan on paying either. I already spent my entire fortune making you queen—and on those meat-filled breads you demanded when you weren't a queen yet." Gale muttered, thinking about the tantrum Historia had thrown when he forgot to take her to the workshop once.

"My goodness, are you still upset about that? But my stance hasn't changed. That happened because you abandoned me."

"You were asleep. Of course I didn't wake you since you looked like you were enjoying it. Your revenge wasn't justified, but I forgive you for it." Gale showed a slight sense of grievance over Historia's tantrum.

"I already apologized for that. I even personally prepared you breakfast. Complaining about it now isn't very appropriate." Historia was proud of being quite good at cooking.

Gale thought to himself: "I only ate because I was hungry. Because I was hungry..."

As for cooking, Historia was not talented at all—in fact, she had confused salt with the refined sugar that Gale had introduced.

"You've grown a lot. Is that because of the exercise you do?" Historia smiled as she placed her hand on his shoulder, pretending to measure her height against his.

"That's part of the reason, but we're both still young and will continue to grow. At least I will…" Gale fell silent as he looked at Historia, whose height had not changed.

"I will keep growing." Historia complained as she removed her hand from Gale's shoulder.

"Wait five years, and we'll see."

"So, you mean we'll still be going out like this in five years? I'm looking forward to it." Gale dreamed of such a future, but it was far from reality, knowing what awaited him.

"Honestly, I think it would be nice."

"I hope you don't get bored. I'm not someone as fun and lively as you." Gale said with a slightly more serious expression.

"Come on. It wouldn't have made much difference now. There are several reasons why I feel so comfortable with you, and it's not just because of your age."

After saying this, Historia clasped her hands behind her back and walked ahead of Gale, only to suddenly turn and look at him while walking backward.

"First of all, I realized that you're not as scary as you seemed when you carried out the coup, Gale."

"I'd love to say that to the people who died at my hands." Gale muttered, thinking about all the lives lost because of his plans.

"Even if you're public enemy number one to others and distrust many people, I'm an exception, right? That's enough for me."

"Haah…" It was true that Gale did not trust certain people, even among those closest to him like Hange, Armin, and some others.

They were allies who could potentially become his enemies, ruining his plans to suppress the enemy from outside, just as they had done in the original timeline.

That was why Gale trusted only a small number of people, such as Levi, Erwin, Hannes, and Historia…

"That's true…"

"I knew it," Historia replied without hesitation, speaking in a calm tone. "And second, it's probably because you're hopelessly in love with me, right?"

"Not to that extent." Gale couldn't bring himself to shatter the illusions of a girl who seemed to be experiencing inexplicable emotions.

"Most people don't risk their lives for someone unless they're deeply in love. And it's even rarer for someone to reject all the other rewards offered by the royal family. Honestly, when I heard about the engagement, for a moment I felt like the heroine of a romantic story."

Gale had assumed that before she said it, but it didn't bother him—in fact, he also appreciated these new experiences.

In his dark mind, Historia's bright personality was the perfect contrast he needed to keep himself from plunging straight into the abyss.
