Chapter 86 - Attitudes

When Gale went to look for Historia at the appointed time, her personal maids informed him that she was getting ready and that he should wait outside for a while.

Historia had already warned him that it might take some time for her to get ready, so Gale didn't mind waiting. However, when he looked at his outfit, he couldn't help but frown slightly.

"This is not very safe." He was wearing a black three-piece suit, coat, vest, and trousers.

This was one of his personal designs that he had made in his spare time after repeatedly dreaming about a rather famous mafia tailor.

Gale's suit was currently known more for its exorbitant price than anything else.

Although it felt luxurious against his skin and looked elegant, the long, body-fitting fabric did not provide Gale with any sense of security. Now that they were entering the age of firearms, he needed to develop bulletproof vests.

Only in that way could Gale avoid being shot to death by some infiltrated enemy who might be looking for him.

Although his influence was certainly not widely known, he was more like a shadow in power, someone few people truly recognized.

That was his greatest advantage, but even so, Gale was not satisfied.

When he asked his assistant to prepare something appropriate for a stroll with Historia through the capital, she enthusiastically brought out this outfit.

And it was not just a single outfit—she had prepared more than ten different suits with the help of another assistant, all in different shades of gray and black, and gave him the option to choose.

In Gale's eyes, they all looked more or less the same, but he chose one anyway. Then they brought out several pairs of shoes to match the suit.

Even after choosing a pair of shoes, it didn't seem to end, as they continued with some discreet jewelry.

Even though Gale dressed in suits quite often, he was still not used to it. This kind of luxury felt strange; after all, he had spent a long time living among mud and gunpowder.

Do the children of all prestigious families endure this kind of thing from a young age?

How do they manage it?

Gale, who was more of a man of the countryside, felt a bit out of place.

Although he had handled a considerable amount of money during his time in the modern age, most of it had been invested in his exotic tastes, such as industrial machines for his more unusual inventions.

Of course, there were limits to what money could buy, and even after spending most of it, he still lacked what he needed the most.

In retrospect, he had never before had the luxury and freedom to experiment with whatever he wanted. He could use large amounts of money on projects that would change the island and still have more funds left to spend however he pleased.

By taking control of everything his noble family possessed, Gale began creating simple businesses that generated large amounts of money. The fortune generated was allocated to his workers, his secret personal projects, and his private army.

The rest was funded by the crown—general projects that were strengthening the island's military power.

That kind of power was something he had never had before, nor had he ever imagined possessing it so easily.

Even so, refusing to reward himself despite his achievements seemed too stingy for someone who claimed to be the savior of this world.

Although it didn't matter much to him now after he had begun to gain the upper hand, it was still something he didn't fully feel yet.

Crack!

Finally, the tightly shut door of the queen opened, and Historia appeared. She did not look significantly different from when Gale had seen her in the morning. However, with her slightly more vibrant makeup, her ornate dress, and her matching accessories, her entire aura had changed.

The Historia Gale had known had always been a clingy girl, but the person standing before him now was unmistakably the queen of a prestigious family.

Although she was clearly the same person, she felt unfamiliar. As Gale stared at her, their eyes met, and she also seemed surprised by his appearance.

"Ha!"

"Pfft!"

At the same time, both of them burst into laughter, dispelling the awkward atmosphere in an instant.

Both of them, orphans and slaves to their destinies, were now here, living as nobles. Things had changed greatly in a short time, and memories of when they were nobody passed through their minds.

After sharing a cordial laugh, Historia, wiping the tears from her eyes, lifted her chin in a feigned, haughty manner.

"Shall we go, Gale?"

"Who am I to disobey my queen?" Nodding, Gale moved to stand by her side.

As they walked together, the escorts following them frowned deeply, as if they were witnessing something they should not have seen.

Gale inevitably thought that now that he was engaged to the queen, things would become more complicated for him.
