[Scene 1: The Trap is Set]
The sun was bright over the To-Oh University campus, but for Light Yagami, the world had turned into a monochrome chessboard. He saw L—crouched on a bench with his usual messy hair and dark circles—and next to him, beaming with an innocent smile, was Misa Amane.
"He's doing this on purpose," Light thought, his heart hammering against his ribs. "He wants to see my reaction the moment I see them together. Any sign of panic, and he'll know I'm Kira."
[Scene 2: The Innocent Front]
"Light-kun! Over here!" Misa waved energetically, attracting the attention of dozens of students.
Light walked over with a practiced, calm smile. "Misa? What are you doing here? And I see you've met my friend, Ryuzaki."
L looked up, a strawberry sweet held between his fingers. "She's quite a fan of yours, Light-kun. She was just telling me how much she admires... 'justice'. It's a very strong word for such a young girl, don't you think?"
L's eyes were like ice, piercing through Light's mask.
[Scene 3: The Danger of the Eyes]
Misa looked at L, and for a second, Light feared she would just say his name out loud. With her Shinigami eyes, she could see L's real name—L Lawliet—hovering right above his head.
Light caught her eye and gave a subtle, almost invisible shake of his head. "Not yet, Misa. If he dies now, I'm the first suspect."
"Ryuzaki is just being modest," Light said, sitting down. "He's one of the smartest people I know. Misa just gets excited about everything. She's a model, after all—drama is her business."
[Scene 4: L's Bold Move]
L leaned closer to Misa. "Misa-san, if I were to tell you that I suspect Light-kun is actually a dangerous person... would you still stay by his side?"
Misa laughed, but her eyes stayed sharp. "Light-kun is a hero. Only a villain would think he's dangerous."
L stood up, his thumb pressed against his lip. "Interesting. Well, I have what I came for." He turned to Light. "Light-kun, the net is closing in on Kira. I hope for your sake that your 'friends' aren't keeping secrets from you."
As L walked away, Light knew the game had reached a point of no return. Misa had the name, but L had the evidence. One wrong move, and the God of the New World would fall.
