Chapter 27 - Chapter 27:crack in control

The pressure didn't leave.

Even after Kai Ryan Korr stepped out of the Principal's office—it followed him.

Each step felt heavier. Not on his body, but inside.

"…He was seen…"

Kai clenched his jaw.

"…Be quiet."

You were acknowledged.

That changes everything.

A violent pulse surged through his chest.

His vision flickered—dark, distorted—then returned to normal.

"…What is happening to me…?" he muttered.

No answer.

Only a surge.

The moment Kai stepped onto the training grounds, everything changed.

Rex froze mid-motion.

"…That pressure…"

Aeris turned slowly.

"…It's him…"

Mina instinctively stepped back.

"…Why does it feel like that…"

Ray's wind faltered.

"…Kai…"

Kai didn't respond.

Because his body was burning from within.

"…Stop…"

His veins pulsed beneath his skin—dark and visible.

Then—

BOOM!!

A violent crimson aura erupted outward.

Heavy. Oppressive. Alive.

The ground shattered instantly. Dust exploded into the air.

Students stumbled. Some collapsed completely.

"…That's not F-Rank!" Rex shouted.

Sera's calm voice cut through the chaos.

"…Late F-Rank…"

A pause.

"…But his aura output is reaching Early E-Rank."

Shock rippled across the field.

Kai stood at the center, breathing uneven.

"…No… stop…"

His fingers twitched—then stilled.

His eyes turned deep crimson.

Empty.

He vanished.

Reappearing in front of a group of students, hand already raised.

Killing intent.

"…Kai…?" one whispered, frozen.

"MOVE!!" Rex roared.

He charged forward, intercepting.

Aeris raised her hand instantly.

"Ice Mirror."

A barrier formed—

CRACK!!

It shattered instantly.

Mina dragged others back.

"…Get away from him!"

Ray's wind surged forward—but failed to stop him.

Inside—

Weak.

Let me show you.

Kai's body moved again—faster, sharper, colder.

"…Guess I made it just in time."

A figure stepped forward. Unhurried. Calm.

Flames flickered faintly around him.

Ren Qin.

Kai's crimson eyes locked onto him.

For a brief second, something reacted.

Then—

Kai attacked.

BOOM!!

Their fists collided. A shockwave tore through the field.

Crimson aura met controlled flames.

The air trembled violently.

"…He blocked it?!" Mina gasped.

Kai moved again—a blur.

Strike.

Ren tilted his head—dodged.

Counter.

THUD!!

Kai slid back, then surged forward again. Relentless. Unstable.

Ren smiled faintly.

"…Now this is interesting."

Kai appeared behind him—striking down.

Ren spun, flames igniting.

BOOM!!

Crimson aura clashed with fire again.

Balanced. Perfectly.

The ground cracked beneath them.

"…He's matching him…" Rex said in disbelief.

"…Who is he?" someone whispered.

Kai attacked again—faster, more violent.

Ren blocked—but this time—

CRACK!!

The ground beneath Ren split.

He slid back slightly.

"…Alright…"

Flames condensed. Sharper.

"…Let's end this."

Kai lunged again.

Ren stepped in.

BOOM!!

Their auras collided violently.

For a moment, everything froze.

Ren's voice cut through.

"…Kai."

No response.

"…Kai Ryan Korr."

A pause.

"…You're still in there."

Inside—

Erase them.

Kai's arm lifted again—then stopped.

Shaking.

His breathing turned uneven.

"…No…"

His entire body trembled.

"…I won't…"

The crimson aura surged wildly—then wavered.

"…This is… my body…"

A scream tore from his throat.

"…NOT YOURS!!"

Silence.

Then—

The aura collapsed inward. Condensed. Stabilized.

The crimson glow faded.

Kai staggered slightly.

"…I…"

A breath.

"…Almost lost…"

Ren smirked.

"…Yeah. You did."

High above the academy, hidden within the clouds, several figures watched.

"…That wasn't normal," one teacher muttered.

"…Crimson-type aura…" another said. "…Extremely rare…"

A third narrowed their eyes.

"…But look at the other one."

"…Those flames…"

The Principal spoke calmly.

"…Not ordinary fire."

A pause.

"…That lineage…"

"…Interesting."

Back on the field, silence spread.

Students stared at Kai. Fear. Shock. Distance.

"…He almost killed them…" Mina whispered.

Rex clenched his fists.

"…That power…"

Aeris glanced at Kai briefly, then looked away.

"…He's unstable."

Ren stretched lightly, then looked toward Aeris.

"…You handled that pretty well."

Aeris blinked.

"…Thank you."

Silence.

"…She replied?" one boy whispered.

"…I've been trying for months…" another muttered.

"…She ignored me every time…" another said, devastated.

Ren grinned.

"…So… you free sometime? Maybe we—"

Aeris stepped slightly aside, calm and precise.

"…I appreciate it, but no."

Ren paused, then smiled wider.

"…I like a challenge."

She walked past him without another word.

Ren chuckled softly.

"…Yeah… I'm not giving up."

Kai steadied his breathing and looked at Ren.

"…You…"

A pause.

"…How did you even get here so fast?"

Ren shrugged.

"…I followed you."

Kai blinked.

"…What?"

"…You looked like you were about to cause trouble."

A pause.

"…Guess I was right."

Kai went silent.

Inside—

You resisted…

A pause.

For now.

Kai's eyes darkened slightly.
