Chapter 184 - Chapter 184: Knowing each Other

To break the awkward silence after Peter had gone, the one woman who had not yet spoken finally stepped in.

"So? When were you planning to tell us?" Rogue asked.

"Peter, how are you going to compensate us for the expenses we incurred searching for Otto when it was never really Otto?" Susan said, crossing her arms.

All the women did the same, waiting for an explanation.

Peter 616, on the other hand, merely smiled nervously and scratched the back of his head, having forgotten that small detail.

"I am sorry for not telling you about him. I forgot because of all the surprises I received in just one night."

He looked at Valeria and Emma, then at Franklin.

"I met him a while ago. I never thought he would come to this part of the world, but here he is, and the night he arrived, he completely changed an entire city. It was amazing. Not only that, he gave me the best gifts I could have ever wished for."

He looked at Valeria and Franklin, who blushed slightly in embarrassment, and finally at Emma, who wore a smile she reserved only for him.

Peter 616 briefly recounted the day his alternate self had arrived, making everyone smile.

Wanting everyone to share the memory, Emma asked her boyfriend for permission to transmit it through a psychic link, which he gladly granted.

The two telepaths connected everyone and vividly replayed the memory of Peter 616 singing with Peter at the bar.

Laughter filled the room.

"That was beautiful," Jessica Drew said.

"Amazing," Jean said.

"Incredible," Susan added.

"I did not know you could sing, Dad," Valeria said.

"Well, it is one of my hidden talents. Not many people know I am a great singer. I once sang karaoke while drunk because of Deadpool."

Still maintaining the psychic link, Peter 616 accidentally projected a different memory, one that Emma immediately cut the children off from before they could see it clearly.

The memory showed Peter 616 performing a dance that was not exactly appropriate for young eyes.

The women blushed, experiencing a mixture of emotions ranging from arousal to jealousy at the number of women who had witnessed the spectacle.

Seeing that their boyfriend possessed an unexpected talent for dancing, they quietly began making plans for the future while internally thanking Wade.

"Wow, I never thought you were so daring~" Rogue said with a flirtatious smile, echoed by everyone around her.

"I was drunk. Blame Deadpool—"

"What stupid thing did Wade do in this dimension now?"

Everyone turned toward the voice, and eyes widened throughout the room. Only the children remained calm.

"Peter? Peter Parker?" Jessica Drew asked doubtfully as she looked at the man standing before her.

"That is correct, Madam Drew. I am Peter Parker, also known as the Superior Spider-Man."

At the mention of the vigilante name, the women tensed slightly.

"You look older. How old are you?" Emma asked.

"I will be nineteen soon."

Everyone stared.

"You look twenty-five," Jean said.

"Genetic alterations I made to my body."

"Why are you wearing a suit? Peter Parker does not wear a suit," Rogue said.

"Just because I am Peter Parker does not mean I have to look the part. I always wear a suit. I like wearing a suit."

"That is surprising," Teresa said.

"I never thought I would meet a Peter who liked wearing one," Jessica Drew said.

The women nodded in agreement while Peter 616 huffed. It was not his fault that he felt restricted whenever he wore formal clothes.

"Alterations to your body?" Peter 616 asked.

Upon hearing the question, everyone forgot about the suit and focused on the genetic alterations instead. Peter walked over to the minibar in the corner of the room and prepared himself a Martini.

"Do you drink?" Teresa asked.

"I like the taste. It is a shame I cannot get drunk because of my metabolism. Caffeine used to affect me like a drug, but I eliminated that weakness, just as I eliminated my vulnerability to spider pesticides."

He answered with a slight British accent slipping into his voice, something both the women and Peter 616 noticed but chose not to comment on.

"What are you drinking?" Jessica Drew asked.

"Vodka Martini. Shaken, not stirred."

Once he had finished preparing his drink, he walked over and sat down on a sofa. The others followed suit.

"By the way, here you go."

He set his glass on the coffee table before tossing an object to each child.

Their eyes widened when they saw what they had caught, and both broke into huge smiles.

"Thank you, Uncle Peter 2!" Valeria and Franklin said.

"You can call me Uncle Jason. It is my other name."

"Thanks, Uncle Jason."

They pressed a button on the objects.

When the lightsabers ignited, the children immediately clashed them together while imitating the sounds from the films. According to them, a battle of cosmic proportions had just begun.

"Do not worry. They are harmless. The real ones are at my home. The only damage those can do is make someone feel a slight tickle," Peter said.

Everyone sighed in relief.

"And about the genetic alteration, it is because I had the Super Soldier Serum implanted. Or rather, a superior version of the one Steve Rogers received."

Everyone stared at him with wide eyes.

"The difference between my serum and Steve's is that mine was designed differently. Mine is much more subtle."

"You recreated the serum?" Peter 616 asked with a mixture of astonishment and annoyance.

"Correction. I improved the serum. I accomplished something that had not been done since Erskine. I also understand the frustration surrounding the serum's history. I understand the concept behind the title 'Super Soldier.' I also know that it has always caused, and will continue to cause, problems. That twisted aspiration gave us the Nazis, Ultron, the Avengers, and many others."

He looked at Jessica Drew, then Emma, Jean, Rogue, and finally Susan.

"The desire to become superhuman cannot be separated from supremacist thinking. Anyone who pursues the serum for power will eventually walk that path. They will never stop. Their violence will continue to escalate until either they kill you or you kill them."

He finished his drink.

"No, The serum never corrupted Steve," Peter 616 said.

"Touché. But we never had another Steve Rogers."

He stared intently at Peter 616.

Peter 616 was about to argue, but Susan gently took his hand and shook her head, silently admitting that the other Peter had a point.

Sensing the tension, Peter changed the subject and asked Peter 616 how things had developed since his last visit.

He was pleased to hear that everything had improved: his heroic career was flourishing, Parker Industries was expanding, several villains had switched sides and become complicated allies, and there was an ongoing situation involving Lady Loki that had apparently given Thor a near heart attack when he learned his sister was pursuing a Midgardian who happened to be one of his friends.

Peter 616 also explained that his relationships with the other factions were still not completely repaired, which was why so few people were present today. He mentioned that Jessica Jones had separated from Luke after Luke's betrayal, which earned him a memorable response from Spider-Man that received an approving nod from Peter.

"That is how we should do," Peter said.

"And what is your life like? What is the difference between you and our Peter?" Rogue asked.

"Ours," Emma corrected.
