Peter stood hidden in the darkness atop a building tall enough that no one below could see him. As he began devising various plans, he looked at the different companies that stood out across the city, but paused on one particular tower of Avengers with obvious contempt.
The Tower of the Executioners. The most useless and idiotic heroes on the planet.
He quickly stopped looking at it because he felt that if he stared at the place any longer, he might somehow absorb its particular brand of idiocy. Instead, he focused his attention on another tall building whose logo consisted of the letters PI.
Parker Industries.[1]
Looking at it for a few seconds, a magnificent idea occurred to him. Jumping between the lower and medium-sized buildings, he quickly moved closer.
"Cortana, you said earlier that you absorbed the AI integrated into the suit, correct?"
"Correct."
"Great. That means you have a connection to this building and possibly several other systems. I want you to show me every hidden area this place has."
A map of the building appeared, with two locations marked: one near the top and another far below ground level.
The one at the top is the laboratory Otto used, which Peter later inherited. But the one at the bottom is what really interests me. That is where the big prize is....a place containing information on various things. This saves me a considerable amount of time traveling from one location to another.
Then Peter remembered something important.
"Cortana, enter PI's servers and search for any hidden computer viruses, malicious programs, or unauthorized backdoors. Eliminate them. Also make sure no alarms are triggered when I enter. While you are doing that, create a folder documenting everything you change and improve the building's computer security so this cannot happen again. Add everything to the folder step by step."
It is fortunate that I know what is supposed to happen in this timeline. This time, I am going to prevent Otto's attack on Parker Industries and the rise of the Superior Octopus.[2]
You owe me big time, Peter.
Jumping from the building, he fired a web to gain additional momentum. When he released it, he landed against the side of Parker Industries a considerable distance from the first hidden location.
He climbed until he reached the correct section, where a concealed entrance opened with Cortana's help. Passing through it, he entered the laboratory.
Standing there, he looked around.
It was almost exactly as he remembered from the comics.
He did not waste much time admiring it. Walking toward one wall, he waited as another concealed entrance opened, revealing an elevator on the other side.
Descending rapidly, he finally reached the location he wanted.
Once the elevator doors opened, Peter stepped out and looked around. This underground facility contained far more than the laboratory above, but most of it was irrelevant compared to what stood directly in front of him.
Inside a capsule was the body connected to Otto Octavius's return.
Peter slowly approached the nearby computer.
Sorry, Otto. But you are not coming back this time.[3]
Peter sat down in the chair and began typing. While working, he started extracting every useful piece of information stored within the facility.
Otto had accumulated extensive data connected to New U Technologies[4] and the cloning research associated with the Jackal.
Little by little, Peter also extracted information on secrets Otto had collected concerning various individuals, especially Stark and other Avengers.
What he did not expect to find was information connected to Mysterio and the woman who had replaced Gwen.
When he read it, Peter laughed quietly, knowing Norman had thoroughly ruined Beck's[5] plans.
This was information he could use very soon.
Peter also discovered that Otto had prepared contingency files on how to defeat various heroes and other powerful individuals. He extracted those files and then deleted them from the original system.
Once he had everything he wanted, he transferred the information onto two separate memory units.
The first was for himself.
The second was intended for the Peter Parker of this universe.
It contained Otto's hidden information, contingency plans, and everything Peter believed the local Spider-Man deserved to know about what had happened during the period when Otto controlled his body.
From his perspective, Peter-616 deserved access to all of it.
If he had retained everything Otto knew, he might have discovered several of these threats much earlier, including the contingencies Otto had left behind.
When Peter was about to erase Otto's remaining consciousness and permanently destroy the body, another idea occurred to him.
Something that could help with his real objective.
He began altering the systems, rewriting several processes, performing calculations, and modifying the surrounding screens.
Eventually, he succeeded.
"Yes!"
Peter was genuinely pleased.
He spent almost four hours sitting in that chair, reviewing the accessible fragments of Peter-616's memories. It was like watching an incredibly eventful film.
This would help enormously with what he had planned.
He searched for moments that showed Peter Parker as what he truly was: a hero, but also someone no sane person would ever want as an enemy.
The time he lifted an impossibly heavy mass while trapped and exhausted.[6]
The time he faced Colossus and Magik.[7]
Fragments of the Black Suit era.
Including the time he confronted Fisk.[8]
And many others.
This might have been disrespectful, but Peter considered it necessary.
All of these memories would be presented from a third-person perspective. Whenever Peter's real name was spoken or his uncovered face appeared, the image would glitch. Anyone attempting to uncover his identity would fail because of a constantly changing security system in which the passwords and protective programs changed every hour.
Peter also discovered memories of events that had never appeared in the comics he remembered.
Meetings with alternate versions of himself.
One apparently connected to a world resembling the Power Rangers.
Others who looked more like anime protagonists than traditional Spider-Men.
And countless other things.
He continued searching for relevant information, and, exactly as expected, eventually found something completely unexpected.
Peter and Cortana stared at several memories in disbelief for quite some time.
He already knew Peter-616 could be remarkably charming, but he had never imagined it reached this particular level.
And it was not limited to one relationship.
There were numerous romantic partners, near-romances, complicated attractions, alternate-universe entanglements, and situations Peter was not entirely certain how to classify.
There were other memories which intrigued him greatly because of the sheer number of partners and romantic interests, totaling almost 27 or more. Seeing everything now, that number was likely higher.
I wonder if this is already a family trait or not.
Peter stared at the memories.
We are just the Peters.
What particularly stood out was a memory involving an alternate female version of himself, which Peter did not find particularly strange, to be honest.
There were also memories involving figures he would never have predicted, leaving him staring at the ceiling of the underground facility for several long seconds once he had processed everything.
If he was not already my idol before, this has earned him a VIP pass to heaven. How is this man still alive? How are they still alive?
