Chapter 13 - CHAPTER 13:Cracks In Silence .

Silence had never felt this loud.

Lin Mo walked through the celestial halls, his steps steady

But his thoughts were anything but.

Everything felt… off.

The light.

The air.

Even the way people looked at him.

Too aware.

Too watchful.

"…You didn't come yesterday."

The voice was soft.

But it stopped him instantly.

Lin Mo didn't turn.

"I was occupied."

A quiet pause followed.

"…You're avoiding me again."

This time

He did turn.

She stood there, just a few steps away.

Calm.

Composed.

But her eyes

Still searching.

"I'm not," Lin Mo said.

"…You are."

A small sigh escaped her lips.

"…You're not very good at lying."

Silence.

Lin Mo didn't respond.

Because

He knew she was right.

She stepped closer.

"…Something changed," she said quietly.

"…And it didn't happen here."

Lin Mo's fingers curled slightly at his side.

"…You're imagining things."

A faint smile appeared.

"…Am I?"

She tilted her head slightly.

"…Then why do you keep looking like you're somewhere else?"

Silence.

Because

He was.

"…Lin Mo."

Her voice softened.

"…Look at me."

He hesitated.

Just for a moment

Then,

He did.

Their eyes met.

And for a second

Everything felt too clear.

"…My name is Lian Hua."

Lin Mo blinked slightly.

"…Lian Hua?"

She nodded.

"…You never asked."

A pause.

"…So I thought I should tell you myself."

Silence.

"…Why now?"

Her gaze softened slightly.

"…Because I think you're about to disappear."

Lin Mo stilled.

"…I'm not."

"…Not like that."

A small step closer.

"…But you're slipping away."

The words landed quietly.

But they stayed.

Lin Mo didn't know how to respond.

Because

Part of him knew she wasn't wrong.

"…You shouldn't worry about me," he said finally.

Lian Hua smiled faintly.

"…That's not something I can choose."

Silence.

"…Then choose to stop."

The answer came colder this time.

Sharper.

But she didn't step back.

Didn't look hurt.

Instead

She just watched him.

"…Is it him?"

Lin Mo froze.

"…I don't know what you mean."

"…The demon."

The word came out softly.

But it hit hard.

Lin Mo's expression didn't change.

"…You're crossing a line."

"…Then tell me I'm wrong."

Silence.

Heavy.

Unavoidable.

He couldn't.

And that

That was answer enough.

Lian Hua's gaze lowered slightly.

"…You really are involved with him."

The realization settled slowly.

"…Lin Mo…"

Her voice softened.

"…Do you even understand what that means?"

Lin Mo looked away.

"…I do."

But the truth was

He didn't.

Not completely.

"…He's dangerous."

"…I know."

"…And you still go to him."

A pause.

Lin Mo's breath caught slightly.

"…He comes to me."

The correction came quietly.

But it changed everything.

Lian Hua noticed.

Of course she did.

"…And you don't stop him."

Silence.

"…You don't want to."

Lin Mo didn't answer.

Because

That was the truth.

A truth he hadn't been ready to face.

"…You've changed," Lian Hua said again.

"…And not in a way Heaven will accept."

Before he could respond

The air shifted.

Sharp.

Cold.

Familiar.

Lin Mo's expression changed instantly.

"…Again?" Lian Hua whispered.

He didn't answer.

Because

He was already gone.

The lower realm greeted him with silence.

Too quiet.

Too still.

"…You're late."

The voice came immediately.

As if it had been waiting.

Lin Mo closed his eyes briefly.

"…Stop doing that."

A faint chuckle followed.

"…Doing what?"

"…Calling me here."

Mo Ran stepped out of the shadows.

This time

Slower.

More deliberate.

"…And yet you still come."

Silence.

Because

He did.

Every time.

Mo Ran's gaze lingered on him.

Carefully.

Then

"…You were with her again."

Lin Mo stilled.

"…That's none of your concern."

A pause.

Mo Ran stepped closer.

"…It is."

His voice dropped.

"…When she looks at you like that."

Lin Mo's breath caught slightly.

"…You're overstepping."

"…And you're letting her."

The tension snapped again.

Familiar.

Dangerous.

"…Why does it matter to you?" Lin Mo asked suddenly.

Silence.

Mo Ran didn't answer immediately.

For the first time

He hesitated.

"…It doesn't."

But the answer came too late.

Too forced.

Lin Mo noticed.

"…You're lying."

Mo Ran's expression darkened.

"…So are you."

Silence.

Neither of them moved.

"…You keep coming back," Lin Mo continued quietly.

"…And you keep letting me."

The words mirrored each other.

Perfectly.

Dangerously.

Lin Mo's heart tightened.

"…This shouldn't be happening."

"…Then stop it."

Silence.

Because

He couldn't.

And they both knew it.

Mo Ran stepped closer again.

Closing the distance.

"…You didn't answer her."

Lin Mo frowned slightly.

"…Answer what?"

"…About me."

The words were quiet.

But they carried weight.

"…Why you don't push me away."

Lin Mo's breath caught.

"…I"

He stopped.

Because

He didn't have an answer.

Mo Ran's gaze softened

Just slightly.

"…You see?"

Silence.

"…You don't want to."

The truth settled between them.

Unavoidable.

Lin Mo looked at him.

And for the first time

He didn't deny it.

That...

That was the crack.

The moment everything started to fall apart.

To be continued… 🖤🔥
