The next morning, Adrien told Mahiru they'll be walking to school and not teleporting, she didn't understand why but just followed him.
As they walked through the streets, Mahiru felt goosebumps spread all over her body. Everything looked completely normal again. Students were heading to school with their friends, chatting, laughing, and joking like any other morning. Adults in suits walked past them on their way to work, some holding coffee, others talking on their phones. Cars moved along the roads, shops were open, and the city was full of its usual noise and life.
Just yesterday, there had been a zombie outbreak. People had screamed, run for their lives, and died. Panic and chaos had swallowed everything. But now, it was as if none of it had ever happened.
Adrien smiled, "It's weird isn't it".
Mahiru nodded, she was silent.
"This is how the supernatural world has stayed hidden for thousands of years. Yesterday was erased from everyone's memories." Adrien showed his phone to Mahiru. The date on the screen said Monday, 4 May.
"But... yesterday was Monday."
"For you," Adrien said. "For everyone else in the world, today is Monday. Every memory, every video, every report, every file, every tweet, every social media post, everything connected to Monday, 4 May 2026, was erased from history."
"W-What about the people who died? Won't their loved ones think about them?", Mahiru asked, dreading the answer.
Adrien stayed silent for a minute as they continued walking along the path leading to Seijo-High, "These people have also been erased from the world, it's as if they never existed in the first place"
Mahiru felt a lump in her throat, she remembered the boy who was eaten by an undead in front of her yesterday, he had freinds, parents who loved him, siblings, maybe he had a girlfriend.
Adrien patted her head, "it's cruel, I know. But, that's for the best, as you saw yesterday, the world isn't ready to face the supernatural yet."
Mahiru nodded. She knew Adrien was right. He had already told her that the undead were not that strong, yet they still caused many deaths and spread fear across the whole world. So what would people do if they found out that even more terrifying monsters, and people with superpowers, were living among them?
Adrien and Mahiru arrived at school and went to their own classes. When Adrien walked into his classroom, everything looked normal. Rei was talking with her boyfriend, while Takashi was playing with his phone. The events of yesterday had completely disappeared from their mind.
After classes, Adrien headed to the kendo club, everyone was already present excluding Saeko.
"Captain, Is Busujima-senpai not coming?", a girl asked.
"Nah she's sick, so she didn't come to school today," Adrien answered.
'Yesterday had been... interesting to say the least'
Low murmurs spread through the dojo, with a clap of his hands, the clubroom fell onto silence again.
"Take your bamboo swords and start swinging, each of you gotta do 200 prefect swings, when you're done you can leave."
"Arghh!"
"No way not again!"
Clap!
With another clap, the dojo went quiet again. They all went to grab a bamboo sword and began to swing it.
Adrien watched as they swung their swords, when someone made a mistake he would point it out, usually it was Saeko who did this job, but she wasn't able to come to school today because of him, so he had to take responsibility.
After the session ended, Adrien left the school. It was already five in the afternoon, so he stopped by a convenience store to buy a few things for tonight. Then his phone rang. It was the real estate agent he had contacted earlier. Adrien was looking for a triplex in Tokyo proper, because he wanted to move there once Sirzechs gave him the okay.
When Tokyo became his territory, he needed to live nearby so devil work would not become a hassle. Apparently, the agent had found a very luxurious triplex in Shibuya. It would cost Adrien around 1.3 billion yen, or about 8.1 million US dollars.
He had already told the owner of their apartment that he and Mahiru would be moving out soon, but he had not told Mahiru yet. He decided he would tell her when the time came.
He arrived home and opened the entrance door with his key. As soon as he opened the door, he saw a girl throw her arms around his neck. She tackled him to the ground, and they both fell backward. Of course, Adrien let her tackle him.
"ANDYY!" the girl snuggled her face into his neck.
Adrien chuckled as he hugged the girl lying on top of him.
"W-W-What are you doing?!" Mahiru appeared at the door and shouted as she tried to pull Celia off Adrien, but Celia locked her arms around his neck.
"Celi, let's stand up and go inside," Adrien said softly.
"I don't want to. You'll just disappear like you always do. This time, I won't let you." she protested.
Adrien then stood up, with Celia still wrapped around his neck. As he got to his feet, she locked her legs around his waist. He walked inside, and Mahiru followed after him, pouting like crazy.
"How did you get here?" Adrien asked Celia. "Did Seekvaira bring you, or did you come on your own?"
Celia pulled her face away from his neck and looked straight at him. Her face was only a few inches from his. "Do you think I'm a child? I used a teleportation circle and came here myself."
"Is that so?" Adrien said. Then he noticed she had changed her hairstyle. Her hair was tied up in a messy bun, with a few loose strands framing her face. "I like your hair like that. Don't change it."
"I won't! I always knew you liked girls with messy buns."
"You did? But I never told you that."
"Yeah, but they always used to catch your eye without you even noticing."
"You did? I've never told you that, though."
"Yeah, but your eyes always went to them, even when you didn't notice it yourself."
Adrien took a seat on the sofa, Celia adjusted her position, sitting on his lap and laying her head against his shoulder. He turned on the TV, then looked at Mahiru was standing in the living room still pouting.
"Celia, I guess you've met Mahiru, right? She's my Bishop and a really kind girl, so make sure to get along with her."
Celia looked at Mahiru again and nodded.
Adrien noticed that they were glaring at each other, then he got an idea. "I'm craving hamburgers. Why don't you two go make some?"
They looked at each other. "Okay!" they said at the same time, then both dashed to the kitchen.
"Oh, make one more portion!" Adrien called out to the two girls in the kitchen.
"We have a guest tonight?" Mahiru asked.
"Yeah, something like that," Adrien said as he shifted his gaze to the TV. There was nothing interesting on the news, so he left it on. A notebook then appeared in his hand in a swirling vortex. He opened it and searched for the page he had been studying last.
After around half an hour, there was knock on the door.
Knock! Knock! Knock!
'Must be her'
"I'll open it!", Celia said as she headed to the door and opened it.
A girl was standing at the door was a tall girl with purple thigh-length hair and a curvy body, she a bamboo sword attached to her waist. "Hello, is this the Agares residence?"
"Yeah, come in," echoed Adrien's voice from inside.
Celia stared at the tall girl in front of her, then her gaze went to her breasts then she looked at her own and frowned.
"Adrien... are you trying to build a harem?" she muttered, her voice muffled as she glared back and forth between Adrien and Saeko.
Saeko looked confused, but she entered the apartment. As she walked inside, she saw Mahiru in the kitchen wearing an apron and cooking. When Mahiru noticed her, her eyes widened slightly, but then she gave her a soft smile. She had heard Adrien and Sirzechs talking about Saeko yesterday.
When Adrien left late that night, she knew he had gone to see her. Jealousy ate at her, but she knew it was necessary.
Saeko walked further inside and stood in front of Adrien, then she bowed, "Greetings master."
"Didn't I tell you not talk like that, just act normally for fuck sake," Adrien face-palmed. When he had revealed to Saeko that he was a devil she started acting very formally in font of him.
"But..."
"No buts, just act normally."
"Wait, did she just call you Master?" Celia asked, bewildered.
"Yes. Well, he is my master now," Saeko replied calmly.
Mahiru stepped out of the kitchen and walked toward them. "Wait, that means..."
Then a pair of wings spread out from Saeko's back.
Adrien smirked, "Celia, Mahiru, welcome Saeko, the newest member of my peerage. She's my Pawn… well, technically, three Pawns."
Adrien had been left with two options when reincarnating Saeko, either make her a Knight or use a few Pawns on her. He made the decision easily enough. Saeko was incredibly talented with a sword, but that was all. She did not have a Sacred Gear or anything like that. She was simply a very talented swordswoman. So he decided it would be better to give her the ability to promote into any piece, since that was far more versatile than only giving her a knight's speed.
"By the way, how are you feeling?" Adrien asked Saeko. "Have you rested after yesterday?"
At that question, both Celia and Mahiru's ears perked up. What did Adrien mean by that?
"Well, I felt incredibly tired and could barely walk, but after skipping school and getting some rest, I feel much better now," Saeko answered.
Celia's eyes narrowed slightly, but Mahiru exploded, "W-What did you two d-do!"
"Huh? No, it's just the after-effects of her reincarnation. Mahiru, you've become such a perv. You're like some readers I know."
Mahiru's face turned red and she hid immediately behind a pillow, which made Adrien and Saeko chuckle. After they had dinner, Adrien explained how things will work from now on.
"So, I haven't told you yet, Mahiru, but we're moving to a bigger house. I bought a triplex in Shibuya, and we'll all be moving there. There are around eight rooms besides the living room, dining room, and kitchen, plus five bathrooms. There's also a terrace with a pool."
"What?!" Mahiru jumped back, and Saeko looked visibly shocked as well. Only Celia seemed unbothered. After all, she had lived in a castle before coming here.
Celia then asked Adrien, "But how will you even justify having that much money and buy a house like that without the government getting suspicious?"
Adrien just shrugged. "I'm a devil. I'll just launder the money."
Celia facepalmed. "I had a feeling that's exactly what you'd say."
"Launder it? You mean actually wash it? But won't the bills get ruined?" Mahiru asked, completely serious.
Adrien, Lynn, and Saeko all turned their heads toward Mahiru at the same time.
'Yeah, she's way too pure. Unlike...'
