Chapter 17: which house did he sort into?
People might allow a murderer to join their group, but they would not associate with someone related to a traitor on both good and bad sides. After all, a traitor can betray anyone for their own interests. No one wants to keep a traitor on their side.
The students in the great hall started whisper while Jack did not show any emotion on his face and walked straight to the stool and sat on it. Even professor McGonagall was in dazed state for a moment before putting the hat on the top of Jack's head.
The most important thing here is that none of the professors tried to stop the whispers of others nor they tried to clarify the things as they don't know what kind of a person Jack actually is.
Technically most of the staff present here are from the order of phoenix. That is the group that got betrayed or thought that they got betrayed by Sirius black, which killed the key protective figures James and lily potter.
The eyes of Snape looking at Jack are very poisonous as he believed that his most beloved person was killed because of the information leek caused by the father of Sirius black. So he did not have good eye towards Jack.
At that moment, the eyes of Jack were very calm but the thoughts in his mind are showing hero saving the beauty, love…. All the qualities of Gryffindor appeared in his mind as if he was self hypnotized.
On the other hand he also strongly thought of going to Gryffindor. The reason for this is not to become close to harry but to get the invisibility cloak that Harry gets for this Christmas. There is more than one cloak of invisibility in this world or plot.
But they would lose their invisibility quality over time. Only the invisibility cloak that Harry gets is the real one from the deathly hallows. Jack wanted to switch the fake invisibility cloak with the one he asked from his grandmother through knockturn alley.
This would not disrupt the plot and he would get the original invisibility cloak. For that and few more things, he needs to be in the Gryffindor. The biggest cover of a white villain is his capabilities to stay popular and appear pure no matter what in the public.
This is his greatest shield that can help him stay protected from all kinds of problems. While this is happening Hermione that already sat at the Gryffindor table understood why she would hate Jack.
It was because the Black family is pure blood supremacist and he is the son of a murderer and a traitor. Normally any person that knows the details of Jack would form a negative impression of him. So it is not possible to hate him for this.
On the other hand Hermione did not think that Jack Black was a bad person. He said she would hate him because of his background. But in reality, he is not a bad person at all.
Also she is a muggle born wizard, which is unacceptable to pure blood wizard family like Black family. Well her thoughts are complicated right now. While she was thinking many on the Slytherin were also thinking about Jack Black.
"You have a strange mind" The words of the sorting hat appeared in his mind.
"You have many qualities of the good, but your mind is sinister. You are a good man but that was darkened to the point of no return. You did not just step into the abyss but took a deep dip.
Slytherin is the best house for you. But since you want to be a Gryffindor then Gryffindor it is." As Jack heard the words of the sorting hat it finally made the decision for Jack.
"Gryffindor"
The sorting hat announced loudly. The people became dazed again as this is something unexpected and they were actually shocked. How could Jack from the Black family enter Gryffindor?
Even though they all said these things they actually forgot that his father Sirius Black is also from the Gryffindor. The real traitor Peter Pettigrew was also from the Gryffindor. So the truth is that they want someone to blame.
They would attribute everything bad to a certain individual or a group and feel good about it. This is not their fault but the religion they follow. Most of the religions and human heart are like that.
They can attribute to demons, fallen angels, or some other creatures. But the real bad part is the human heart. There are some religions and people that actually pointed about the truth that there is no good or bad person or a group.
It is just your heart that sees things differently. Unfortunately people tend to believe in hero defeating villain to bring peace than believing that hero selfishly wanted to step on others naming them as villains to gain wealth, fame and power along with a bunch of beauties.
How is it justified? It is justified because the winner writes the story and the winner is the hero. That is how the world works. It is the same in the past. It is the same now. It will be the same in the future.
It was not strange as Sirius black the father of Jack black was also from the Gryffindor. But the hard part is that Sirius black is a mass murdered and a traitor. Most of the people present thought that the sorting hat has made a mistake.
But none of them spoke. Jack slowly got up and walked to the Gryffindor table without any change of expression. He did not have a mood swing and no one can tell if he is angry or happy.
At the Gryffindor table none has welcomed him like they did to other students. The professors can see the difference but none of them spoke. This is the affair of the students and it has to be solved by the students.
