I did not know what had become of my pack. I seemed to have allowed myself to grow distracted. So focused upon keeping my son safe that I had in fact placed him in more danger. I had become a weaker Alpha from the moment I had lost my mate. It was not an uncommon occurance, but it was certainly not an easy one to accept as the Alpha facing it.
I stood at the back of the room while the doctors checked over the young girl we had brought in. The girl my nephew had been so close to killing. I felt sick at the very idea. She had been brought to my pack in the search for a bride for my son... entrusted to us by her father, and to think that she had almost died within the borders of my pack, at the hands of my own family... disgust coursed through me. That was not the Aiden I knew. Once I saw the small nod from the doctor to indicate that the girl was stable, I left her within her room the doctors and walked away. I was of no use for her.
