Chapter 35 - Chapter 35: The Diviner’s Secret Wish

Julian Reed sat in his office, scratching the back of his head as he pored over the "Fruit Shop Part-timer" threads. No matter how much he searched his memory, no specific face came to mind. Eventually, he sighed and closed the tab. He had a galaxy-spanning empire to run; he couldn't spend all day playing detective.

With the premiere of Mewtwo Strikes Back approaching, Julian found himself reflecting on the source material. In his opinion, the original movie was... average. It served the fans, but the emotional core felt a bit rushed. Mewtwo's sudden change of heart at the end, without a truly profound sacrifice to anchor it, felt abrupt. To a being obsessed with the existential horror of its own creation, Ash was just another Trainer.

"I need to do better for the sequels," Julian murmured, jotting down notes. "We need to lean into the 'Show, Don't Tell' philosophy. It's not just about flashy moves; it's about the bond."

He envisioned scenes that had stayed in his Remembrance for decades: Ash and Pikachu reconciling under a stormy sky, the relentless spirit of a Ponyta's race, the disobedient fire of a Charizard that eventually learns to trust, and the tragic, noble struggle of a Greninja. Even the villains needed soul—Team Rocket's Meowth and his heartbreaking backstory of learning to speak human tongue for love.

"I'm a developer, not a screenwriter," Julian admitted. "But I have the Credits now. I'll hire the best poets and playwrights the Luofu has to offer. We'll make short films, too—'Pokémon in the Real World'—showing them living alongside people to fuel the galaxy's imagination."

While Julian was dreaming of cinematic masterpieces, a certain pink-haired official was dreaming of something much smaller.

Inside the Real Version of the game, Fu Xuan was currently cradling a Pikachu. Her face, usually set in a mask of stern authority as the Grand Diviner, was beaming with pure, unadulterated joy.

As a girl, she had always harbored a secret love for small, cute animals. But between her rigorous studies in the Divination Commission and her eventual rise to power, she had suppressed those desires. A Grand Diviner couldn't be seen petting a kitten in the middle of a strategic meeting; her stature was already petite, and she feared losing her "majesty" in front of her subordinates.

But here? In the digital sprawl of Kanto? She was just a Trainer.

"Eat up, little one," she whispered, offering the Pikachu a berry.

Fu Xuan had utilized her terrifying intelligence to clear the main story with ease, often winning battles where she was ten levels lower through pure tactical prediction. However, Mewtwo had humbled her. She realized that against a god-tier Psychic type, raw logic wasn't enough. She needed to grow with her partners.

"Strange," she muttered, opening her menu. "Does divination truly not work in this simulation? I've been seeking the 'Mysterious Ancestor,' yet every thread I pull leads to mundane tasks."

She had spent the morning helping research teams clear forests and calming runaway herds. Following her latest "lucky direction," she summoned her Pidgeot, which was equipped with a sleek leather Flying Saddle. She flipped her robes back with a practiced grace, sat behind the bird's neck with Pikachu in her lap, and patted its feathers.

"Let's go, Pidgeot."

They soared toward a remote Research Institute—a hub for high-level quests. The moment she landed, a young NPC researcher in a white lab coat ran toward her, looking frantic.

"It's you! Lady Seeking Fortune! Thank the Aeons you're here. My colleagues mentioned your incredible track record. We have an anomaly that requires a Master's touch."

Fu Xuan blinked. Usually, she had to initiate the dialogue. This NPC was proactive—a sign of a high-priority quest trigger.

"What is the nature of the disturbance?" she asked, falling back into her professional tone.

"We've located an uncharted island far to the south," the researcher explained. "But every expedition fleet we send is repelled by localized typhoons and tsunamis. It's almost as if the island itself is defending itself. We suspect a Pokémon is behind the weather patterns. For the safety of the trade routes, we need an investigation."

Fu Xuan's eyes sharpened. A Pokémon capable of commanding the weather on such a scale? This wasn't a standard monster.

"Is there a time limit?"

"None. It's a long-term mission of extreme danger. Please, prioritize your safety."

Fu Xuan accepted the quest. A new coordinate appeared on her map, pulsing with a faint, rhythmic glow in the middle of a vast, empty sea.

"A storm-shrouded island..." she whispered, a small, competitive smile tugging at her lips. "Perhaps my divination didn't fail me after all. This 'Myth' might finally show its face."
