After reading the Pokédex entry for Mew, Fu Xuan's mind immediately began to connect the dots.
"It seems you and Mewtwo share a far more intimate bond than simple taxonomy," she murmured.
The endless versatility, the overlapping Psychic signatures, the visual echoes—anyone with a shred of intuition could see the thread connecting them. But Fu Xuan didn't come here for a history lesson. She came for a challenge.
"Enough talk. Let's see if a myth can bleed data. Go, Gengar!"
To secure a capture in the Real Version, a one-on-one duel was the only honorable path. Fu Xuan deployed her Gengar, a Pokémon she had specifically cultivated for its type-advantage against Psychic entities.
"Gengar, Shadow Ball!"
The ghost hissed, launching a sphere of swirling dark-purple malice. Mew tilted its head, letting out a soft, bell-like "Mew!" before retaliating with a Shadow Ball of its own. The two spheres collided mid-air, erupting into a cloud of shadowy soot. Mew covered its mouth with its paws, giggling as if it were playing a game of tag.
Fu Xuan's eyes remained cold, her mind already three moves ahead. "Laugh while you can. Gengar, warp the coordinates! Trick Room!"
Gengar extended its hands, and a shimmering, translucent cage of warped space expanded across the forest floor. In this twisted dimension, the fast became slow and the sluggish became agile. The speed gap that usually defined a Mythical Pokémon was suddenly nullified.
"Now, Shadow Sneak into a Shadow Punch!"
Gengar dissolved into the ink-black shadows cast by the forest canopy. Mew's large blue eyes darted around, searching for its opponent, but the Trick Room made its movements feel like it was wading through honey.
Swish!
Gengar burst from a high branch directly behind Mew, its fist glowing with spectral energy. Mew vanished in a blink—Teleport—reappearing behind Gengar to strike back.
"Protect!" Fu Xuan commanded the instant Mew moved.
A green barrier flickered into existence just as Mew's palm struck. The shockwave rattled the trees. Fu Xuan wiped a bead of sweat from her brow; even with the type-advantage, a direct hit from a Level 70 Myth would have been an instant knockout.
"We have to lock down its mobility. Gengar, use Mean Look!"
Gengar's eyes widened, its gaze pinning Mew with an eerie, inescapable stare. In the Real Version, this wasn't just a status effect; it was a conceptual lock. Mew's ability to Teleport away from the battlefield was severed.
"Cycle the shadows! Shadow Ball, then Shadow Sneak!"
A barrage began. Gengar fired from the darkness, repositioned, and fired again. Mew spun in place, crushing the incoming Shadow Balls with telekinetic bursts of Confusion. It was becoming frustrated. The giggle was gone, replaced by a sharp cry as it decided to stop playing.
Mew's tail glowed. A massive wave of Psychic energy swept through the forest.
"Hang in there, Gengar!"
Gengar took the hit, its health bar plunging into the red, barely hanging on by a sliver of digital willpower.
"Now! Pain Split!"
An invisible link connected the two. Mew's vibrant aura visibly dimmed as its life energy was forcefully averaged with Gengar's nearly-empty reserves. Gengar surged back to half-health, while the Mythical creature looked suddenly weary.
"Mew...!" Mew's eyes glowed with true anger now. A tangible wave of Psychic force, far stronger than before, roared toward Gengar.
Fu Xuan smiled. It was a cold, triumphant expression. "Everything is within my calculation. Gengar, use Destiny Bond!"
Gengar was enveloped in a haunting, black light just as the Psychic wave disintegrated its physical form. Gengar was defeated, but as it vanished, a tether of dark fate latched onto Mew. No matter where Mew Teleported, the energy followed, accelerating until it slammed into the pink creature's chest.
Mew slumped, its eyes glazing over, barely able to hover.
"You're strong, Myth, but the math doesn't lie," Fu Xuan said. She didn't give it a chance to recover. She recalled Gengar and released a Level 40 Butterfree. "Sonic finisher! Bug Buzz!"
The high-pitched vibration was unavoidable. Being a Bug-type move, it dealt double damage to the Psychic Myth. The sound rattled Mew's already-weakened mind, and it fell to the forest floor, incapacitated.
Fu Xuan didn't hesitate. She drew her Master Ball—the treasure she had saved since the closed beta. She knew the mechanics: a fainted Legendary could still recover if left alone too long. She wasn't risking a 99% chance; she wanted 100%.
The Master Ball struck Mew, drawing it inside in a swirl of light. The ball wobbled once on the grass... then clicked shut with a definitive ding.
[Mew has been caught!]
Fu Xuan exhaled, the tension finally leaving her body. Across the Luofu, the servers hummed as the first-ever capture of a Mythical Pokémon was recorded in the archives.
"The first Mythical," she whispered, her heart fluttering like a young girl's. "I've done it."
