"Are the visiting wolves staying the night?" I asked as we walked away from the sparring grounds.
Phoenix was looking beyond the tree line, his eyes tracking something I could not see. Behind us wolves had come forward to begin clearing up and organising the transportation of the dead. The King, despite having been killed in challenge for the throne, would receive a formal send-off. Whatever his flaws as a ruler, the ceremony would be observed.
The moon sat high and clear, not a cloud between it and us.
Phoenix hummed. "Yes. Guest rooms in the packhouse."
"Will that work with so many Alpha-blooded wolves under one roof?"
He chuckled and squeezed my hand. "Now that I carry the King's power they will settle naturally beneath me. If I were not present it would be considerably more complicated, yes."
"Oh," I said quietly.
