We sat in quiet for a moment while I turned everything over in my head. The frustration of not having been educated about my own biology was settling into something heavy and uncomfortable. Why had my mother never explained any of this to me? She had to have known something. Unless she truly believed I was human for so long that she never thought to bring it up.
"Is there any way to delay it?" I asked. "Like a contraceptive pill or something?"
He frowned. "I am afraid not. Human birth control does not work on werewolves."
My eyes lost focus. "I have been on the pill since my first period."
He tilted his head. "Why? Did a doctor prescribe it?"
"They assumed I was human," I said. "My cycles were always very heavy and I often passed out. A doctor said I was too frail and put me on medication."
"That would have been the malnutrition, Nova," he said quietly. "Not fragility." He gave me a careful look. "Since coming to my pack, have you continued taking it?"
