The energy grew stronger the closer we got, a loud thrumming that vibrated deep in my chest and resonated up through my skull until it was difficult to think around it. Some of the wolves beside me began shaking their heads against it, hackles lifting automatically in response to something their instincts could not fully identify but refused to ignore.
We came to a stop roughly five metres from the border's edge. I shivered as I looked at the familiar shimmer ahead of us. The wall was vivid and alive with power, sparkling faintly in the dark. Beyond it I could see nothing but trees and grass, no indication of what lay further in, the same blank face it had shown me the first time. I assumed it looked the same to everyone else.
