"What an amazing little Luna I have." His voice came out deep and low, sending a shudder through me before I had time to prepare for it.
His eyes caught the reaction and glimmered with something knowing. He took a step forward. "Truly amazing."
I stepped back instinctively and immediately regretted it when my fingers met the hard edge of his desk behind me. Classic. My palms pressed flat against the wood and I looked up at him, his dark eyes closer than they had been a moment ago.
"A-Ares," I managed.
He made a low sound of approval and closed the remaining distance until he was right against me. "Yes, my Luna?"
His hands settled on my hips and the warmth that came with the contact moved through me in slow waves that made focusing extremely difficult. My mouth opened slightly, a shaky breath escaping as I stood there caught between wanting to say something very sensible and having absolutely no idea what that would be.
"What are you doing?" I whispered eventually.
