Chapter 165 - Chapter 164 The Divine Messenger has investigated

"Why her? Didn't I say she was dangerous?"

"The Divine Messenger has investigated. That Quinn Sukina is just an ordinary person—ah, wait, no, she seems to have a low-level superpower, but in front of us, she's no different from an ordinary person." The short person in black explained. "Using her as a test subject couldn't be better."

"But..."

The tall person in black still wanted to argue, but the same strong light as yesterday interrupted their conversation once again.

It was the familiar voice again, and the familiar gray-haired girl. "Found you!"

The only difference was that this time, she had several powerful heroes standing behind her.

"Damn it."

"Run!"

...

Facts proved that with the help of cheat-like prophetic abilities, the Captain could indeed cause considerable trouble for the enemy. For example, today, she led people to chase that short person in black for a full two hours.

If it weren't for the real gap in agility, that person wouldn't have been able to escape her grasp at all.

However, her goal this time was originally just to interrupt the conspiracy between these two people; whether she caught them or not wasn't actually that important.

If she caught them, that would be best; if she didn't, it didn't matter.

And the next day, after learning about the Captain's impressive performance yesterday, Leticia was quite satisfied with her decision. Look, that's what you call having a keen eye for talent.

"The Captain said she seemed to vaguely hear those two people talking about you. You'd better be careful these next few days," Melanie said to Leticia.

Although the current Demon Lord already had a certain ability to protect herself, just like how your mom wouldn't care how many clothes you have on but only care about how cold the weather is, Melanie still couldn't stop worrying about Leticia's safety.

"Don't worry about things on my end, I'm steady as a rock." Leticia swung her feet with a relaxed expression. After her magic power recovered, she became much more confident. "Did you find out why Mengyao appeared there on your side?"

Speaking of this matter, Melanie sighed. "The Songstress senior said that the manager claimed he never made that phone call, and the call logs also indicate that the manager wasn't lying."

The strange thing is, not only did the manager's call logs prove this, but there was also no record of that phone call in Mengyao's phone.

Someone is lying, and it seems more likely that Mengyao is the one lying.

"So, is Mengyao lying?"

"I don't know either, but I don't really believe she would lie." Melanie shook her head, looking slightly distressed. All the evidence currently proved that Mengyao was lying, but she felt that Mengyao didn't seem like someone who would lie.

Leticia propped her chin up and thought for a moment, then looked up and said to Melanie, "Can I see her?"

"Where would you meet her?"

"If you dare to bring her here, I wouldn't mind seeing her here." Leticia rolled her eyes. Of course, she meant going to the manor where Eriko lives to see her.

"Mm, okay." Of course, Melanie wouldn't refuse this request.

So, after pulling Luna along, Leticia once again arrived at the manor, which had already been reinforced with defenses again.

The manor now could truly be called a fortress with absolutely no weak points. Just the security personnel Leticia could see numbered in the hundreds, and Leticia even saw trenches and machine gun emplacements.

It was, well, rather absurd.

Leticia felt that Malanie might really have a fear of insufficient firepower. With this level of defensive strength, even if she wanted to send people to forcibly take Eriko, she would have to carefully weigh the strength she had on hand.

"This is truly a bit absurd."

"To be safe, there haven't been any important matters in Central City recently, so I can mobilize more resources." Melanie's gaze drifted a bit; she also felt she had made this place a bit too safe. She was even thinking about having her younger sister, Yori, move here as well.

After all, this place could basically be called the safest place in Central City now. This is what you call impregnable; this is exactly what it means to be impregnable.

And now that the Captain is staying here too, if anyone wanted to launch an attack, Melanie felt that the Captain would be able to foresee it, which added another layer of insurance to the place.

With layer upon layer of protection, both Melanie and Leticia believed that this place was absolutely safe and could not be breached from the front.

Arriving at the room where Mengyao was staying, Leticia saw the Elf Race doctor who had previously detoxified Mengyao, as well as the haggard-looking Songstress.

The doctor was here at Melanie's request. She felt that if you help someone, you should help them all the way. Since the detoxification was done, it was only normal for the doctor to stay here for a few days to see if there were any sequelae, right?

With meals and accommodation provided, plus a large sum of money, the elf thought about it and 'reluctantly' agreed.

Anyway, she wasn't the type to go out on field missions. Sitting anywhere is just sitting, so it's better to come here, where the food is good, the sleep is good, and safety is guaranteed.

"Good morning, you two." Leticia greeted the three girls in the room. "I'd like to have a private word with Little Xi, is that okay?"

The elf doctor certainly wouldn't have any objections. Mengyao was recovering very well; she was just pretending to be working hard here, not just freeloading.

So, she immediately indicated she had no objections and then consciously walked out of the room.

The Songstress, however, was somewhat hesitant. Her gaze wandered between Leticia and Mengyao several times, as if she didn't know what she should say.

Fortunately, Mengyao helped her make the choice. "Sister Qin, don't worry about me. I don't think Miss Sukina is a bad person; she won't do anything to me."

Hearing Mengyao's words, the Songstress finally nodded and left the room with Melanie.

After Melanie closed the door, only Leticia and Mengyao, who was lying on the bed and seemingly had no ability to resist, were left in the large room.

Two women alone in a room can always lead people to have some strange associations, but neither of them had such thoughts, and the topic between them was quite normal.

"How do you feel about the Songstress?" Leticia winked at Mengyao and asked with a gossipy look on her face.

"Ah?" Mengyao was stunned. "Shouldn't you be asking me why I appeared here?"

Obviously, Leticia's question caught Mengyao off guard.

Regarding this, Leticia explained: "This matter could be anyone's problem, but I don't think it's likely to be your problem."

"Should I thank you for your trust?"

"I just don't believe there's any fool who would deliver their own life into someone else's hands." Leticia snorted. She could be certain of one thing, and that was that Mengyao was playing the role of an innocent victim in this matter.

An ordinary person, poisoned with a toxin that only an Elf Race doctor could cure; if it couldn't be cured, they would only have a few days to live.

Could this be Mengyao's scheme?

Impossible.

"So I trust you, and your memory has some slight errors. What I need to do now is find those errors and then correct them."

Leticia could basically be certain that someone had tampered with Mengyao's memory. She came here this time to verify her guess, and if she could find the person who did the tampering, that would be even better.
