Chapter 89 - Chapter 89. Failed to escape!

"Really? Look into my eyes and repeat what you just said," Kira stated, her gaze fixed on Leticia's black eyes hidden beneath her hood, leaving no room for doubt. "Do you dare, older sister?"

Leticia guiltily averted her gaze. She couldn't lie under Kira's intense stare.

This was her greatest weakness.

"So, you're not denying it?" Kira let out a snicker, but quickly composed herself. It was the first time she'd seen her older sister so flustered, and she couldn't help but feel a little out of sorts.

For relatives to reunite, especially after such a long disappearance, it was difficult for Kira to control her excitement.

"Although I want to ask more things, can older sister first tell me Melanie sister's true identity?"

A human who could partner with her older sister couldn't possibly be an ordinary person, no matter how she thought about it.

"Ah, this..." Leticia looked at Melanie, her eyes full of helplessness. She hadn't expected to be exposed so quickly.

That phrase that slipped out of her mouth had truly ruined her entire day's planning.

"Her friend, nothing more." Melanie expressed her disdain for Leticia's quick blunder. She had thought Leticia could keep up the act longer, but Kira had seen through her after just a few sentences. How could that be?

Miss Demon King isn't good at acting.

"That matter, it doesn't matter if older sister knows, but Melanie sister is human," Kira said to Melanie very seriously, her attitude firm. "However, I already know where older sister lives. I can't say it here, but I can say it tomorrow."

"Kira, just give me some psychological preparation. Is this thing going to be very troublesome?" Knowing that she couldn't keep up the act, Leticia no longer bothered to disguise her voice. "If it's very troublesome, I might as well pack my bags and run away tonight."

Hearing her older sister's voice, a trace of nostalgia flashed in Kira's eyes. So many years had passed, but her older sister's voice was still the same.

As for running away? Kira declared that since she had found Leticia, she would absolutely not let Leticia escape again.

"Of course it's not troublesome, in fact, it's quite simple, you know," Kira said to Leticia with a full smile. "Really, really simple."

This devilish smile made Leticia's heart clench. Her intuition told her that Kira was lying, and that the matter involving this book was definitely big trouble.

"Trust me, older sister, how could Kira lie to her older sister?"

No, I feel like you're definitely lying to me! Leticia shouted in her heart.

"You two hurry up, someone's coming this way." While the two sisters were having a heartfelt conversation, Melanie on this side detected several unfamiliar presences rapidly approaching.

The Cyclops's voice came through the earpiece, "Tsk, York Rose, you guys retreat quickly. Some impatient heroes from the Hero Association are already coming over."

"Didn't we agree not to enter until the designated time?" Melanie frowned slightly.

"But there are always some ignorant fools who get deceived by petty people, and I can't control those kinds of people," the Cyclops sighed as he watched several heroes rapidly approaching the transaction location on the surveillance screen.

The Hero Association's management capabilities over powerful heroes were truly not commendable.

Besides, she was a civil servant of the Joint Government and couldn't manage these overly energetic heroes.

"How many came, and what's their strength?"

"Four, all S-class, but their rankings are relatively low."

"Mhm." Melanie nodded, then called out to Leticia on the other side, "Haruno, time to go."

"Haruno? When did older sister get such a perfunctory name?" Kira tilted her head, asking somewhat confusedly.

"You brat, don't ask what you shouldn't ask." Leticia, throwing caution to the wind, directly gave Kira a 'loving' blow from her older sister. "York, how many came?"

Kira clutched her little head, tears shimmering in her eyes. "Mean older sister!"

Unfortunately, her words were drowned out by Melanie's.

"Four S-class, almost here." Melanie looked in the direction from which the presences were coming. "Should I go deal with them?"

If it was just four S-class, it wouldn't take much effort to deal with them.

"Melanie sister's strength is truly terrifying." Hearing Melanie's declarative tone, Kira, who had already wiped away her tears, twitched the corner of her eye twice.

Four S-class heroes, these weren't common cabbages. Even a Four Heavenly Kings-level powerhouse would need to expend some effort to deal with them.

But Melanie's calm tone gave the impression that defeating these four S-class heroes was as easy as drinking water.

This strength was quite intriguing.

"She's even more formidable than you imagine," Leticia sighed. "Forget it, no need to fight here, let's slip away."

She turned, but her hand was gently pulled by Kira.

"Kira?"

"I won't let you escape again, older sister," Kira said, staring at Leticia, enunciating each word.

She was afraid her older sister would disappear again. Now that she had finally found her, how could she let go?

"This isn't the time to throw a tantrum, Kira, quickly let go!" The presences in her perception were getting closer and closer, Leticia quickly urged. "I promise I won't run this time, okay?"

Only in front of her younger sister would Leticia act so meekly.

But Kira's attitude was firm, "Even if you hang me on a tree later, older sister, I won't let you leave my sight again."

You brat, you're still holding a grudge, aren't you!

"Don't you know where I live now? Can't you come find me tomorrow?"

"Sister Luna is very powerful, I'm afraid that what I found isn't older sister's real residence, and besides, one night is enough for you to escape," Kira shook her head. Her older sister's total escape time back then was less than ten minutes; one night was enough for Leticia to slip away to another world.

"No time to run," Melanie sighed. With Kira's delay, Leticia's plan had completely fallen apart. What was supposed to be an escape had now turned into a direct confrontation.

Swish, swish, swish, swish, four heroes in various outfits leaped down from the sky. They instantly focused their attention on the solitary Melanie.

Black clothes, a briefcase, and over there, a person in white was pulling and tugging at a black-haired little girl.

This should be the target of the operation.

"Sigh." Seeing the four heroes, Leticia also sighed. "The plan failed spectacularly."

"Older sister has never been one for schemes." Kira still had the mood to joke. "However, even if I'm clinging to you, older sister, you can easily defeat these people, right?"

"You brat, you'll get what's coming to you later." Seeing that Kira had no intention of letting go, Leticia glared fiercely at her younger sister.

"Hm?" Kira glared back unceremoniously. "I haven't settled the score with older sister for abandoning such a heavy burden and running away."
