Chapter 87 - Chapter 87. Luna's Little Scheme

"I have a premonition that we will meet the Commander again today." Leticia muttered to herself with a strange smile, watching the Commander and her companion disappear into the bustling crowd.

They were in such a hurry; they must have received some news, right?

For example, two organizations planning to conduct a transaction on the street where they previously had their accident.

"Mhm, I just asked Cyclops, and she said the preparations are complete, and everything is proceeding according to plan." Melanie put down her phone, her expression turning serious.

"Let's go. It's time to change clothes and have a little chat with my dear sister." Leticia stretched, her voice betraying no nervousness.

After all, she was quite confident in her own strength. No matter what she did, she would be fine. Why would she be nervous?

The place to change clothes had already been set: a nearby hotel. Leticia and Melanie had Luna book a double room at noon and stored the clothes needed for the operation there.

Arriving at the hotel and entering the room, Leticia nodded in satisfaction.

It seemed everything was going smoothly.

Of course, there was one more person in the room.

"Luna?"

Luna, sitting cross-legged on a single bed, smiled and looked up. "Does Your Majesty have any questions?"

"Nothing, I was just wondering why Luna is here." Leticia shook her head, having thought it would only be her and Melanie.

She hadn't expected Luna to be here too.

"Of course, it's to provide the two of you with necessary technical support. You can't possibly handle everything yourselves," Luna explained, pointing to the slim laptop on her lap. "Sometimes, my intelligence is much more accurate than the official sources."

"For instance, our esteemed Councilor also plans to get a piece of the action in this doomed transaction. Please be careful when leaving the scene, Your Majesty."

"That kind of trash is nothing to worry about." Leticia put on a large white robe, indicating she had absolutely no concerns about Luna's warning.

"It's always better to be careful." Luna put down the laptop and flipped off the bed.

Coming over to Leticia, the Miss Maid resumed her old profession, fixing her Majesty's appearance.

Simply throwing the robe on wouldn't do; it was neither comfortable nor aesthetically pleasing.

"There's no need to be so troublesome," Leticia grumbled, once again being treated as a clothes rack by Luna.

Luna was accustomed to Leticia's complaints. Since she was chosen to be Leticia's maid, she had heard such grievances countless times.

Before long, Luna finished her work, fastening the last button on the robe. She clapped her hands, quite satisfied with her result.

"It actually looks pretty good..." Leticia was surprised herself, looking at the girl in the mirror who looked completely transformed.

Luna's skill was as excellent as ever.

"But can I take this hairpin off now?"

"No, we left in a hurry and didn't bring any spares," Luna shook her head. "As long as you don't take off your hat, Her Highness Kira won't notice."

"Really?" Leticia was skeptical.

Who was Luna? Anyone could be careless, but not this Miss Maid.

"Naturally, it's true." Luna lowered her gaze and replied as usual.

She, who was deceiving Her Majesty, was truly wicked.

Luna admitted that she had deliberately not brought a spare hairpin.

In her heart, she still hoped that Her Highness Kira and Her Majesty would recognize each other soon. In such a large Demon Race, it couldn't be that she was the only demon who knew Leticia's whereabouts.

If anyone among the Demon Race could keep Leticia in check, it would definitely be Kira.

"Actually, Your Majesty recognizing Her Highness Kira..."

"No, no, no. If she finds out what I've been doing these past few years, my life will be over." Leticia immediately interrupted Luna.

Her younger sister was all grown up and disobedient now.

She couldn't possibly hang her sister from a tree and whip her like before, could she?

Even if Kira agreed, Leticia wouldn't have the heart to do it.

Before, it was out of necessity, but the current Leticia truly couldn't be so cruel, or rather, her heart was no longer capable of such cruelty.

"What time is it now?"

"Seven forty. The transaction time is exactly eight o'clock, so now is the perfect time to leave," Luna sighed and replied.

"Then let's go. We can't keep Kira waiting too long." Leticia picked up the last piece of this set of equipment—a white mask—and put it on her face.

Melanie, who had already finished dressing, nodded silently. Her red eyes beneath the black mask lingered on Luna for a moment before looking away.

Luna knew that Melanie had probably guessed her intentions. This girl looked somewhat foolish and naive, but inwardly, she was extremely clever.

"Sigh, this is troublesome, troublesome." Leticia lamented, opening the window. "Right, don't we have any remote communication devices?"

"I do," Melanie said flatly, pointing to her ear.

"Insufficient funding," Luna gave an awkward yet polite smile. "A cell phone can work in a pinch."

This is seriously unprofessional!

"Once you arrive, Your Majesty can improvise. The script has been arranged, and if you follow the steps one by one, there shouldn't be any major issues," Luna added.

Issues? How could there be issues?

Or rather, having issues would be for the best.

Such unprofessional preparation gave Leticia a sense of foreboding.

If—and she meant if—she accidentally had her identity exposed by Kira, what should she do?

"Relax. Kira already suspects you. It's only a matter of time before she knows your identity," Melanie said, patting Leticia's shoulder with words that were anything but comforting.

"This is all your fault, and you have the nerve to say that here!" Leticia was furious whenever this was mentioned. If Melanie hadn't come to borrow her glasses, would she have been exposed so quickly?

Melanie guiltily averted her gaze. "I can help you hold Kira back. Trust me."

"Do you think I'll forgive you just because you said that? I'm telling you, absolutely not!" Leticia said fiercely through gritted teeth. "I'll remember this grudge for a lifetime!"

Compared to accepting Melanie's help and having her hold Kira back, Leticia felt that recognizing Kira was actually easier to accept.

Perhaps this was just her meaningless pride acting up.

"Phew, it's getting late. Let's go." The Demon King's anger was like a summer shower—it came quickly and left quickly. Before long, she had adjusted her mood.

"Well then, I wish you both immediate success~"
