Chapter 85 - Chapter 85. Don't Laugh!

Video games are naturally a lot of fun, and they can easily bring girls closer.

Just like now, Momo, who was originally a bit reserved, had already been pulled by Leticia to start shooting zombies with toy guns.

"Sister Lu, behind you, there's a monster behind you!" Leticia was incredibly skilled at this type of game, not only easily eliminating the monsters on her side but also having enough energy to warn her teammate.

Momo, who had virtually no gaming experience, couldn't quite keep up with the rhythm. She fumbled to turn her view, then saw a bloody, mangled face suddenly appear on the screen.

"Wah! What is that!" In her panic, the girl didn't forget to pull the trigger. Fortunately, this ambush monster was just the most common small fry, falling limply to the ground after only a few shots.

Leticia was amused by Momo's reaction, never expecting this seemingly reliable older sister to have such a cute side.

"Don't laugh, more zombies are charging from the front!" Momo exclaimed softly, with a hint of embarrassment and annoyance.

"Leave the front to me; I guarantee not a single one will slip through," Leticia giggled. "You can trust my marksmanship, Your Excellency."

"Even if you talk in such a strange way, the monsters won't stop!"

"Don't worry, watch me."

While Leticia was on a rampage with Momo, Melanie and Sayo were wrestling with a claw machine.

Watching the plushie fall again from the flimsy claw, several black lines couldn't help but appear on Melanie's forehead.

"How many times have I tried?" She no longer knew how many times she had tried; she only knew that most of her game tokens had been spent here.

Sayo, holding two plushies, hesitantly stated a number, "Twenty times?"

"Why can the Captain easily grab them, but I couldn't get even one after twenty tries?" Melanie's cheeks puffed out slightly, giving the impression that the girl was sulking.

"Perhaps, it's luck?" Sayo said she didn't know the reason. It seemed that when she operated the machine, the claw was exceptionally strong, but when Melanie operated it, the claw seemed utterly exhausted.

The flimsiness made one wonder if it could even crush a piece of tofu.

"I'll try again." The Captain walked to the machine and inserted a game token.

Then, she aimed the claw at the kitten plushie that Melanie had tried countless times for and pressed the yellow button on the machine.

Then, the Captain knew that she would definitely pick up the plushie this time.

The force with which the claw descended was completely different from when Melanie operated it.

Sure enough, a few seconds later, the claw steadily picked up the kitten plushie.

Watching this scene, Melanie fell silent.

"Um, York Rose?" The Captain took out the kitten plushie and carefully placed it in Melanie's hand. "Maybe your luck isn't very good."

Melanie looked at the black kitten in her hand, then at Leticia, who was having a great time with Momo not far away, and slowly tightened her grip.

The cute kitten was squeezed into all sorts of strange shapes by her, causing the Captain's lips to twitch uncontrollably.

Why does it feel like York Rose has the potential for a dark transformation?

"York Rose, aren't you going to play with Ohara? I see Siyu can't keep up with Ohara's rhythm at all."

Melanie wanted to go, but Leticia's attitude was quite clear: you play yours, I play mine, we have nothing to do with each other.

Melanie felt it was impossible to get Leticia to play such a two-player game with her.

Didn't she see that Leticia would rather pull a girl she'd only known for an hour to play games than let her join?

"She hates me." A fleeting look of loneliness appeared on Melanie's face, making her seem a little more pitiful.

The Captain patted Melanie's shoulder. After witnessing Leticia and Melanie firsthand, she roughly understood that what Leticia had said earlier was likely not false.

Or rather, most of it wasn't false.

Leticia's dislike for Melanie was evident on her face; she truly looked as if she intended to never interact with Melanie again.

However, there was a hint of softness within that attitude, a very strange feeling.

"Although Ohara says she hates you, York Rose, with her words, face, and actions, your relationship isn't actually that bad, right?"

"Because she likes pretty girls, her attitude towards me is quite variable." Melanie borrowed Luna's evaluation of Leticia.

"Ah, is Ohara really that superficial?"

"She is that superficial. If it weren't for past events, she might have confessed to me the first time we met." Melanie began to spout nonsense with a straight face.

Even though she knew this was unlikely, wasn't a person allowed to dream?

Melanie indeed didn't sleep well that night, but the feeling of Leticia nestled in her arms, sleeping soundly, was deeply etched in Melanie's heart.

Melanie wanted to experience that soft touch every day.

"I feel like you're talking bad about me." Leticia's voice rang out beside Melanie's ear. The girl looked up and saw Leticia, with a look of lingering satisfaction, standing in front of her.

On the other side, Momo looked completely burnt out. The girl was leaning against the Captain's shoulder, already seated on a nearby chair.

It seemed the two-player game had drained this inexperienced girl.

"No." Melanie averted her gaze.

Feeling guilty, Leticia thought to herself, but she wasn't very concerned about Melanie talking bad about her; she just wanted to come over and mock Melanie.

"The kitten is quite cute. How many tries did it take to get it?"

"Many times." Melanie was a bit afraid to tell Leticia how many times she had tried, after all, it was a full twenty times.

And she didn't even get it herself; the Captain got it in the end.

"Twenty times, right?" Leticia chuckled. Did she really think she didn't know what was happening here? Her peripheral vision had been watching this area.

"Am I, am I very weak?" Melanie lowered her head, feeling her face flush.

Twenty times, it was too embarrassing.

"Uh, actually, it's fine." Looking at Melanie in this state, the taunt she was about to say simply couldn't come out. Leticia was silent for a while before dryly squeezing out a sentence.

"Eh?" Melanie looked up in surprise and saw Leticia's evasive gaze.

Miss Demon King is as indirect as ever.

"What are you looking at? If you can be tricked out of so much money, just tell me, aren't you an idiot?!"

"Pfft."

"What are you laughing at! Don't laugh!"
